Update: Matt Latos' bullpen session Friday did not go well. He still has some tenderness in the flexor and will have more treatment before throwing again.
Sigh. It looks like the elbow irritation was a bit more major than originally thought. Latos will likely be held back for a few days to let things subside and from there they'll try another session to test things out. This probably pushes his return back a week or so, but should the elbow not respond well, it could be even longer than that. Continue to stash Latos on your DL and we'll await word from the team.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Eduardo Rodriguez will start Thursday in Texas for the Red Sox.
The Red Sox were considering bringing Rodriguez up in late April when Wade Miley was struggling but now they may consider him a potential replacement for the nightmare that is Joe Kelly. He'll start Thursday to stay on his regular throwing schedule and this may only be a spot start/audition, but keep an eye on him especially if there's a chance he joins the rotation. Wil Myers (wrist) is improving but not close to returning.
It's not so much that he isn't close to returning, it's that the Padres are being very cautious with him and have not set a timetable for him to start swinging a bat. Once he does start, it might not be too long before he lands on a rehab assignment. The team is hoping for an early-to-mid June return, but we'll just have to wait and see. Analysis: Howard Bender
