Goran Dragic (ankle) is now listed as doubtful for Friday's game vs. the Spurs.

While the Suns are still battling to clinch a playoff berth, Dragic still has a fair amount of swelling in his ankle and seems unlikely to play Friday. The Suns don't want to immediately rule him out, but you should probably expect Gerald Green starting at shooting guard.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Miguel Montero (thumb) says he's close to being ready to play. He will see a doctor Thursday.

Montero was supposed to miss around six weeks due to a left thumb injury. The doctor should clear him to ramp up baseball activites and he could be activated earlier than his original timetable. Kyle Schwarber owners should be wary of Montero's return, as it's up in the air what the team will decide to do with him.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Derek Holland will throw two innings or 35 pitches Thursday at Triple-A Round Rock in his first rehab start.

Holland is working his way back from a left shoulder strain. He's only been able to pitch in one inning this year back in April. The plan is for him to make at least three rehab starts in the minors before rejoining the team. He could be an option in mid August, but he hasn't pitched in so long he'll be hard to count on.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Chris Colabello has been inserted into the Blue Jays starting lineup on Wednesday.

Colabello is taking the place of the injured Edwin Encarnacion. X-rays were negative on Encarnacion so Colabello should only be at first base for a game or two.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Quinten Rollins will open camp on the Non-Football Injury list.

Rollins was Green Bay's second-rounder this year and they're going to need him to address problems in their weak secondary. We're not sure exactly what the injury is, but at least it's non football related. Hopefully he won't miss much time at camp.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Lions are placing Joique Bell and Jason Jones on the PUP list.

Bell has been dealing with Achilles and hip issues this offseason and now he's officially on the PUP list. Bell always seems to be nicked up, although he's only missed one game in the last three seasons. This is great news for Ameer Abdullah though. His ADP will likely rise accordingly and he has major sleeper appeal in Detroit.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Edwin Encarnacion has been scratched from Wednesday's lineup with a jammed left middle finger. Precautionary X-rays were negative.

No word on when Encarnacion suffered the injury, but that's not really relevant. Luckily X-rays were negative so he shouldn't be out of the lineup for too long. Consider him day-to-day. Chris Colabello will man first base instead.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Yankees moved rehab assignment of Slade Heathcott to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Heathcott should be back with the Yankees shortly. The youngster suffered a grade 2 quad strain in late May and was transferred to the 60-day DL. He's 6-17 in the bigs this year.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Manager Clint Hurdle said Gregory Polanco might have aggravated his left knee making a catch Tuesday.

Polanco was forced to leave Wednesday's contest early due to his left knee. The same knee caused him some issues in June so this is worth monitoring. No word on his status yet so consider him day-to-day.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Mark Teixeira (foot) is not in the Yankees starting lineup on Wednesday.

Tex got beaned on Tuesday, but we don't think this a related issue. Looks like just a day off for the slugger. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Rangers recalled RHP Jon Edwards from Triple-A Round Rock.

Edwards has 19 saves with a 1.80 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in 25 innings at Triple-A Round Rock. He'll try to carry that success over to the big league level.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Rangers optioned RHP Phil Klein to Triple-A Round Rock.

Klein posted a 5.82 ERA and 1.76 WHIP across 17 innings with the Rangers. He likely won't be back until rosters expand in September. Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Rangers recalled LHP Alex Claudio from Triple-A Round Rock.

We're not sure why he was ever optioned in the first place. Claudio owns a 2.87 ERA and 1.15 ERA across 15 2/3 major league innings this year.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Manny Banuelos' MRI showed a bone spur on the posterior portion of his left elbow.

Banuelos was placed on the 15-day DL with elbow inflammation retroactive to July 25. He has already been hit with some injury problems which have slowed his development, but the young prospect owns a 2.49 ERA in five appearances since his promotion. Analysis: Zack Carpenter
