Fantasy Player Updates & News

Brian McCann is not in the Yankees' starting lineup on Friday.

After seven-straight games of squatting behind the dish and a lefty on the hill for Boston, this seems like as good a time to give McCann a rest as any. He'll be available off the bench if needed, but Francisco Cervelli will get the start here.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Brett Lawrie (soreness) is not in the Athletics starting lineup on Monday.

Lawrie has been out of the Athletics since Friday, and A's manager Bob Melvin admitted that the third baseman is "a little banged up." Max Muncy will handle the third base duties in Monday's afternoon opener against the Tigers.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Travis Ishikawa has been reinstated from his rehab assignment and then designated for assignment.

Major League baseball is a brutal sport and the hero of last year's NLCS is now off the Giants' 40-man roster. Ishikawa has been on the disabled list since the end of spring training with a lower back strain. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Marreese Speights (right calf) advanced to running the stairs Monday. He's expected to get back on the court in the next day or two.

Festus Ezeli has played his way into a role off the bench in the Conference Finals, but with averages of just 6.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 block over 13.6 minutes of action. Even if Speights is to return to the lineup, it is unlikely that he'll be much of a factor the rest of the way.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Athletics option Craig Gentry to Triple-A Nashville.

This was just a matter of time for Gentry who was batting an awful .079/.163/.079 in 43 plate appearances this season for the Athletics. Oakland can only hope that he can work things out in the minors.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Athletics reinstate Ben Zobrist from the 15-day disabled list.

Zobrist was out for just under four weeks after having arthroscopic knee surgery which is much sooner than they originally thought which was a return of middle of June. The versatile 33-year-old had batted .240/.304/.400 with one home run, five doubles, eight RBI, and eight runs scored through his first 14 games this season.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

A.J. Pollock is not in the Diamondbacks starting lineup on Monday.

Pollock is one of the hottest players in the Major Leagues. He's upped his average to .313 with four home runs, 15 RBI, 27 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. He's getting the day off and Ender Iniarte will start in his place.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Leonys Martin is not in the Rangers starting lineup on Monday.

The Rangers are going to keep riding the hot hitter with Delino DeShields starting in center field and leading off against Phil Klein. Martin has struggled this season to the tune of a .219/.260/.321 batting line.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Yan Gomes is not in the Indians lineup on Monday.

It was not a great return for Gomes from the disabled list as he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. He was out of the lineup for the first six weeks of the season with an MCL sprain in his right knee. Roberto Perez is at catcher Monday versus Rangers righty Phil Klein.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Manager A.J. Hinch said Sam Deduno will throw a bullpen session in Baltimore Tuesday, and if that goes well he'll pitch rehab assignment Thursday.

The Twins have seen Deduno pitch well in his previous bullpen sessions and hope to keep him on track to return as soon as possible. When he does return to the team, he'll head back to the bullpen in a long relief role.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Joey Terdoslavich will begin his rehab assignment Monday with Class-A Rome.

Terdoslavich hurt the wrist when he dove for a ball in a Grapefruit League game. The injury lasted longer than the team expected but he will finally start his Triple-A rehab assignment. The Braves could use his depth in the outfield.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Josh Hamilton is batting fifth in his season debut on Monday.

The Texas Rangers offense has really kicked it into high gear over the past couple weeks and getting Josh Hamilton hopefully will only add to that success.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Jonathan Lucroy (toe) is undergoing his latest X-ray Monday and the Brewers will plan a rehab after the results.

We will have to wait and see the results of the X-ray before the Brewers can set a timetable for his return. The team is hoping that has fully recovered from his fractured left big toe. If the results are good, he'll be cleared for a short rehab assignment and could be back in the Brewers' lineup next weekend when they take on the Diamondbacks. We have not see him since mid-April.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Jose Iglesias (knee) is not in the Tigers lineup on Monday.

The Tigers recalled Dixon Machado from Triple-A Toledo to get the start at shortstop and bat ninth. We saw Iglesias injure his knee Saturday when he collided with Chris Carter of the Astros. The good news for Jose is that the MRI ruled out any structural damage, but he has a bad bruise.  Analysis: Drew Phelps
