Josh Hamilton (thumb) is expected to be placed on the disabled list with the team recalling J.B. Shuck from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Just when things were starting to go right for the former MVP, now he gets hurt, which should come as no surprise seeing as he is made out of glass. Shuck makes for an interesting add in deeper leagues as he has shown a propensity to hit for a decent average, in limited playing time, and has some stolen base upside, just do not be looking to him to replace the power you lost with Hamilton going out. Titans head coach Mike Mularkey said the team is giving Marcus Mariota more chances to run the football.
One of the bigger surprises this fantasy season has been the lack of running by Mariota, considering he came from a read option offense in Oregon. However, the rookie quarterback has still been a solid fantasy option despite the lack of running, so this will give a slight boost to his value if he is able to churn out a few yards on the ground. It’s always a tough situation when quarterbacks run more as they open themselves up for injury, but the Titans must feel confident that Mariota will know how to protect himself when he decides to take off and run.
