Josh Hamilton (thumb) is expected to be placed on the disabled list with the team recalling J.B. Shuck from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Just when things were starting to go right for the former MVP, now he gets hurt, which should come as no surprise seeing as he is made out of glass. Shuck makes for an interesting add in deeper leagues as he has shown a propensity to hit for a decent average, in limited playing time, and has some stolen base upside, just do not be looking to him to replace the power you lost with Hamilton going out. Bobby Parnell's velocity was up to 94-95 MPH in his rehab appearance on Thursday.
Parnell conceded eight runs in his first 6 1/3 rehab innings. He's been lights out lately, with his velocity trending in the right direction. He's on the road to recovery from Tommy John, and it often takes pitchers time before their velocity, control and feel return. Parnell's velocity had dropped substantially before the UCL tear was announced last season, so it's a nice sign that he's throwing hard once again. Analysis: Spencer Silva
