FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Dirk Nowitzki passed Oscar Robertson for 10th on NBA all-time scoring list Tuesday night.

Dirk now has 26,714 career points after scoring a game-high of 21 points in the win over the Jazz surpassing The Big O who finished his career with 26,710 points. Next up is Hakeem Olajuwon who is ninth overall with 26,946 points. With only three games left in the regular season for Dallas The Dream will at least get to hold on to that #9 spot over the summer.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Drew Smyly (left shoulder) will start Sunday for Double-A Montgomery and should return this month.

Smyly looked solid in his rehab start down in High-A ball and the rays will move him up to Double-A for this weekend. Barring any setbacks, he should be moved up to Triple-A Durham for a final rehab start before joining the team at the end of the month. Analysis: Howard Bender

Update: Chandler Parsons has returned to Saturday's game.

Parsons came back from the locker room as quickly as he left and everything seems to be fine. If it was his knee acting up, everything seems to be just fine now. Analysis: Howard Bender

Chandler Parsons just limped off the floor and is being looked at by trainers on the bench. He is heading to the locker room.

The Mavericks will obviously update his condition soon but the fact that he walked off and to the locker room under his own power is an obvious good sign. He was dealing with a knee issue heading into the playoffs, so this could be a recurrence of the old injury. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jesse Hahn said after Saturday's game he has been dealing with blister since spring but it split open in the sixth. He believes he'll be able to make next start.

It doesn't sound like this is going to be a major problem save that fantasy owners were bummed to lose him after he had thrown 5 1/3 scoreless innings. He did earn the win though as the A's went on to beat the Royals 5-0. Barring some unforeseen setback, he should be fine to face the Angels next week. Analysis: Howard Bender

Matt Joyce (foot) was able to pinch hit Saturday, but did not take the field the following inning.

Joyce was dealing with only a slight issue. He was more resting after having played six-straight games and the team was facing a lefty on Saturday. If the foot is bothering him, then he'll be re-evaluated Sunday, so consider him day-to-day and questionable for Sunday. Analysis: Howard Bender

Los Angeles Clippers will reportedly explore a logo and uniform re-brand this offseason.

Because that's exactly what the good people of Los Angeles need -- to spend their money on new jerseys. Perhaps the Clippers are trying to completely overhaul their image and make everyone forget they were ever owned by Donald Sterling. Whatever the case may be, a re-brand will have zero effect on the play of its team. Analysis: Howard Bender

Angels optioned pitcher Adam Wilk to Triple-A Salt Lake.

The Angels are making preparations for Garrett Richards to come off the DL and start Sunday against the Astros. Wilk made one appearance while he was up with the club and gave up one run over two innings. He'll be back when the Halos need a fresh arm in the pen. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jimmy Butler scored 25 points (8-14 FGA, 7-8 FTA) with two rebounds, six assists and a steal during Saturday's Game 1 win over the Bucks.

Butler was dealing with a sprained elbow throughout March, but returned towards the end of the regular season and averaged 19.1 points and 5.3 rebounds over his last 10 games. Now that he's fully healthy and has Derrick Rose to lean on a little, Butler should be a force in the playoffs. Analysis: Howard Bender

Taj Gibson said he was okay after Saturday's game and should be ready for Game 2.

Gibson should be considered day-to-day with a slight knee strain. He left Saturday's game early but was listed as probable for a return. He'll be re-examined at the next morning shootaround but should be fine moving forward. Analysis: Howard Bender

Derrick Rose played just 27 minutes but scored 23 points (9-13 FGA, 2-2 FTA) while going 3-for-7 from beyond the arc during Saturday's Game 1 win over the Bucks. He also added in seven assists, two steals and a block.

Rose is obviously used to playing closer to the full game, but with the knee issue and the game well in-hand throughout, he was limited to keep him fresh and safe. If the knee is healed, then he's only going to get better as the playoffs go on. Analysis: Howard Bender

Aldon Smith said he is "hungry" to bounce back in 2015.

While that's all well and good, the bottom line is that Smith needs to stay focused on the field and out of trouble off it. His suspension really hurt the 49ers defense and with a new regime taking over, he needs to really prove that he's more than just a problem child. He can be one of the best in the game if he's focused, so if he's really that hungry, the 49ers will let him eat. Analysis: Howard Bender

Ersan Ilyasova scored 15 points (6-14 FGA, 2-4 FTA) with three rebounds, three assists and two steals during the Bucks' 103-91 loss to the Bulls in Game 1 on Saturday.

Ilyasova finished the regular season strong in April. While he averaged 11.3 points per game for the season, he averaged 14.3 over the final eight games of the season. It's a tough match-up for him here for the Bulls but he could be useful in playoff DFS games if he can get 30 minutes per game. Analysis: Howard Bender

Khris Middleton scored 18 points (7-17 FGA, 2-2 FTA) while going just 2-for-7 from beyond the arc during Saturday's 103-91 Game 1 loss to the Bulls. He also kicked in two rebounds, one assist, four steals and a block.

It was a solid showing for Middleton considering the way he's struggled against the Bulls in the past -- 41.2 shooting percentage. If he can get hot from three-point range, the Bucks might be able to put up a stronger showing, though relying on threes all night isn't going to win the series. Analysis: Howard Bender

Update: Taj Gibson has a right knee strain. His return is probable.

While his return is probable and that's encouraging for the future, there were only three minutes remaining in the game and the Bulls were ahead by a significant margin. He may not even need to return. He'll be re-evaluated Sunday morning and the Bulls will update his status for Game 2 afterwards. Analysis: Howard Bender
