Fantasy Player Updates & News  Huge Overlay: $500k MLB Championship

Clayton Kershaw (back) played catch prior to Sunday night's game, but there is still no definite timetable for his return.

While we'd like to take the "no news is good news" approach here, we have to update you bitter, irate Kershaw owners out there. We're not trying to rub it in at all that you used a first round pick on a starting pitcher. Seriously, we're not. As we said, there's still no timetable for Kershaw's return. Some estimates have him at least a month away, but we'll just have to wait and keep tracking his progress. Tough to sell him, but surely there's someone in your league willing to trade based on name alone.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Update: Larry English has a left knee injury and will not return.

English had to be carted off the field so this isn't much of a surprise. The extent of his knee injury is unknown, but Tampa Bay is keeping their fingers crossed. The veteran defensive end was slated to begin the season as a reserve for the Buccaneers. Analysis: David Kerr

Tobais Palmer (migraine) is questionable to return on Thursday.

Palmer was a long shot to make the Bills and this could very well be the end of the road. The best case scenario is that he will land on Buffalo's practice squad. Analysis: David Kerr

Larry English was injured and is being carted off the field.

English was penciled in to make the Buccaneers final roster, but those plans could change after Thursday's injury. The veteran defensive end injury his knee, but the extent of the injury is unknown at this time. Tampa Bay will likely update his status on Friday. Analysis: David Kerr

Josh LeRibeus (calf) is out for the remainder of the game.

LeRibeus played in eight games for the Redskins last season and will likely make the team again as a reserve this year. With that said, he suffered a calf injury on Thursday night and will not return. Analysis: David Kerr

Update: Travis Howard (shoulder) is questionable to return for Falcons.

Howard was taken to the locker room after a hard hit to his shoulder area and it questionable to return. He is a long shot to make the Falcons' final roster. Analysis: David Kerr

Travis Howard is being taking to the locker room by the trainers.

Howard took a hard hit to his upper body, but no further details are known at this time. We will have an update on his status soon. Analysis: David Kerr

Former Angels GM Jerry Dipoto is a candidate for Mariners’ GM opening.

The Mariners recently parted ways with Jack Zduriencik and now have an opening at General Manager. After parting ways with the Angels earlier this year, Jerry Dipoto appears to be on Seattle's short list. This is a decision that won't likely be made until the season concludes, but it gives us a rough idea as to the direction that the Mariners are looking for their future.  Analysis: David Kerr

Texans outside linebacker Tony Washington ruled out of Thursday's game with a chest injury.

Washington was competing for a roster spot as a reserve linebacker so this injury could be quite the setback. Expect the Texans to run some tests and make some decisions, but Washington is not someone fantasy owners need to care about. Analysis: Howard Bender

Christion Jones has a thigh injury and is questionable to return to Thursday's game.

The Dolphins will run some tests to make sure there isn't a major quad injury here. Jones is buried down on the depth chart so the impact isn't huge, but with DeVante Parker and Greg Jennings still dealing with some bumps and bruises, Jones could have carved out a bigger role for himself with a strong showing. Analysis: Howard Bender

Tyrus Thompson is being evaluated for a head injury.

It seems unlikely that Thompson would head back into the game even if he did pass his initial concussion tests, but if he is desperately fighting for a roster spot, he'll try to force himself back in. Analysis: Howard Bender

Keith Smith received a concussion test after the kickoff but has been cleared to return.

Smith is just fine and will continue to fight for a roster spot, though it seems unlikely that he would see any real playing time. Analysis: Howard Bender

Josh Norman suffered a head injury in Thursday's preseason game and will not return.

Norman will undergo the league's concussion protocol now and won't be back on the field until he passes his tests. He'll also be checked for a neck injury as the two often go hand-in-hand. Carrington Byndom would likely see the work at corner should Norman be out for an extended period of time. Analysis: Howard Bender
