Masahiro Tanaka served up a home run to the 1st major league batter he faced (Melky Cabrera), but was still able to earn the victory in his MLB debut.

Tanaka had a roller coaster outing as he retired the next three batters in order after the home run (struck out Bautista and Encarnacion to end the first), allowed two runs in the second inning, but then pitched five scoreless innings to finish with a final stat line of 6 H, 3 R (2 ER), 1 HR, 0 BB, and 8 K in 7 IP as he and the Yankees got the win defeating the Jays 7-3.
