FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Anderson Varejao said he's playing on Friday.

The return of Varejao, granted his minutes may be limited in a reserve role, still could put a ceiling on Spencer Hawes earning potential this evening in Atlanta against the Hawks.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Mirza Teletovic says he's feeling good and has no blood clots. He can return in six months.

Sure, he could return, but the question will be will the same issue flare up once he begins playing. He is done for the 2014-15 season in any event. If he comes back, he is a fine off-the-bench front court player, offering some point scoring and rebounding. All that takes a back seat to his getting healthy again, though. Analysis: Ivar G. Prince Fielder (neck) is expected to play Wednesday, this will be his first game since May 16th.

The Rangers will be looking closely at their starting first baseman, hoping that the surgery that sent him to season-ending DL in 2014 fixed his neck problems. If Fielder is healthy, and driving the ball into the outfield gaps, as well as over the fence, then the unproductive 2014 Texas offense will gain a significant boost. No reason to doubt Fielder at this point, but game action will tell the true tale. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Matt Barnes (hamstring) will not play Monday against the Timberwolves.

Barnes will not be able to play on Monday night, so expect either Hedo Turkoglu, Glen Davis or Jordan Hamilton to get a crack at the starting small forward job.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Gary Neal will start Monday against the Clippers.

Neal will be starting in place of Kevin Martin, who is dealing with some sort of bug that has been going around. With the added minutes, Neal should be able to bring his nine point per game production up to more helpful levels, so give him a shot on Monday night, if you feel so inclined.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Nikola Pekovic (ankle) will not play Monday against the Clippers.

Gorgui Dieng will most likely start in his place on Monday night and don't be surprised if Adrien Payne sees increased minutes as well.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Kevin Martin (illness) will not play Monday against the Clippers.

Martin is dealing with an undisclosed illness and will be spelled by Gary Neal as the starting shooting guard. His 20+ points per game and 40-percent shooting from downtown will be missed, but it should only be for one game.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Goran Dragic (back spasms) will start Monday against the Suns.

It appears that Dragic is going to play through the back spasms on Monday, but don't be shocked if he is on some sort of a minutes restriction. If this is the case, expect both Shabazz Napier and Mario Chalmers to see some increased playing time. Analysis: Dom Murtha

At least four teams are interested in Brian Orakpo. For now, the leaders are believed to be Washington and the Falcons.

Orakpo could be a nice fit for any teams looking for pass rush help due to the fact that he can do it as a standup linebacker or a hand in the dirt defensive end. Considering his injury history, he also might come at a discount.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Blake Griffin (elbow) has begun running at full speed and has been shooting. There is still no timetable for a return.

The loss of Griffin has not been that noticeable in the standings, however his presence will be missed come playoff time. Hopefully he can get some kind of timetable soon, before the Clippers falter in the playoffs due to lack of dynamic scoring. Analysis: Dom Murtha

James Harden has been suspended one game without pay for kicking LeBron James in the groin.

That game last night was chippy to say the least, so Harden's outburst was not that surprising. The Rockets will survive without him for one game, and so too will his fantasy owners.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Henry Walker says the Heat are signing him to a second 10-day contract.

The artist formerly known as "Bill Walker" is getting a second look from the Miami Heat. He most likely will not turn into a fantasy contributor, so don't pay much attention to his availability unless there are any significant injuries to players in the Heat backcourt.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Grizzlies announced the signing of JaMychal Green to a multi-year contract.

The Grizzlies see Green as a legitimate contributor, considering they locked him up for the next three years. Before getting the green light with the Grizzlies, he dominated the D and Summer Leagues, so there is no reason to believe that he can't become a solid fantasy contributor in the NBA. Analysis: Dom Murtha

Brandon Knight will start Monday against the Heat.

Knight has seamlessly transitioned into the Suns rotation, so continue to start him in your lineups regardless of whether or not he is in the Suns starting lineup or not.  Analysis: Dom Murtha
