Update: MRI on Jose Reyes' hamstring shows mild inflammation. He hopes the 15 days will suffice, but no firm timetable.
Reyes should be looked at as someone who will miss the month of April. If he makes it back late in the month that's a nice bonus. Given the hamstring injury though, you have to think his running will be curtailed, and since that's such a huge part of his game it's hard to be a big fan of his as the 2014 gets going. Mark Teixeira went 3-for-4 with a solo home run against the Mets on Saturday.
That’s Tex’s eighth home run of the year. He won’t continue to hit home runs at this rate, but it’s not unreasonable to think he can hit 25 or more this year. He has also drawn as many walks as he has strikeouts. And he’s hitting .254 despite a .163 BABIP. That’s mainly because most of the balls he’s hitting are leaving the yard right now, but it’s still encouraging for his batting average going forward. Analysis: Brett Talley
