FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

The X-rays taken on Jordy Mercer's ribs showed no fracture.

With no fractures present, it looks like Mercer will simply be listed as day-to-day and the Pirates will simply monitor his ability to play through it as best he can. Jung-Ho Kang replaced him Sunday and should Mercer require any length of time off, the Korean import will be ready to play. Analysis: Howard Bender

Ben Zobrist left Sunday's game with left knee soreness.

A tough loss for the A's as Zobrist was 2-for-2 with two RBI, a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's game against the Royals. He'll be re-evaluated after the game and again Monday morning to determine if it's just soreness and he is day-to-day or if it's more serious and he lands on the disabled list. Eric Sogard replaced him at second base. Analysis: Howard Bender

Matt Holliday (back) is in the Cardinals starting lineup on Sunday.

Holliday was removed from Saturday's game after just one inning with tightness in the middle of his back. The move, however, was considered precautionary and the Cardinals will have him in the starting lineup for the series finale against the Reds. Analysis: Howard Bender

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons is hopeful that Jose Reyes (rib) will play Tuesday, but will only bat from the right side.

Reyes suffered what the Jays were calling a cracked/fractured rib earlier in the week but are hoping to avoid putting him on the disabled list right now. He's sat out the entire weekend series against the Braves and will be re-evaluated Monday during their off-day and a determination regarding his availability for Tuesday will be made then. Ryan Goins has been replacing him at shortstop and is currently 1-for-7 with four strikeouts, so it's easy to see why the Jays would like to get Reyes back in the lineup as soon as possible. Analysis: Howard Bender

Alan Anderson (ankle) will play on Sunday.

Anderson suffered a sprained left ankle at the beginning of April and missed the Nets' final seven games of the regular season. With the playoffs in sight, the Nets opted to keep him out for extra rest towards the end and he is going to play Sunday without any sort of minutes restriction. Analysis: Howard Bender

Mirza Teletovic will not play on Sunday.

Teletovic, who was dealing with a blood clot in his lungs, was already ruled out for Games 1 and 2 of this series with the Hawks. However, he's been cleared for basketball activities this week so the Nets are going to see if he can be of any use off the bench during the playoffs. He's a role player off the bench, so it's not like he's been missed all that much. Analysis: Howard Bender

Skip Schumaker will make his first start of the season in left field on Sunday.

There is a reason Schumaker hasn't started until now. He doesn't belong in a big league lineup, much less your fantasy lineup. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Felix Hernandez was feeling tightness in his quad during his start Saturday.

King Felix had some tightness in his quad in his previous start, and while he will almost certainly want to continue pitching it may be smart for the Mariners to put him on the disabled list or at least skip his next start. They could also use Thursday's off day to push his next start back until Saturday. If he does make his next start it may be a good time to trade Felix before he does have to go on the disabled list.  Analysis: Steve Pimental

Billy Hamilton is not in the Reds' starting lineup on Sunday.

Hamilton left Saturday's game with groin soreness, and while he is not expected to go on the disabled list he could miss a few more games after Sunday. Hamilton's only asset is his speed and if this injury slows him down even a little bit the Reds will probably keep him out. Brennan Boesch will start in center field with Hamilton out, but he is not playable for fantasy against Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Marlon Byrd is not in the Reds' starting lineup on Sunday.

Byrd will get a routine day off as Skip Schumaker gets his first start of the season. Byrd has struggled so far this season, batting .143 with one run and three RBI, but the Reds have no depth behind him and he is in little danger of losing playing time to Schumaker or Brennan Boesch. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Mike Scott is available for Atlanta on Sunday.

Scott did not play in the regular-season finale against the Bulls, but his back injury was considered pretty minor at the time. He does not belong in your fantasy lineup, but he is an important role player for the Hawks. Analysis: Steve Pimental
