The Angels expected to announce 6-year contract extension with Mike Trout tomorrow.
Sorry Cali that was not an earthquake you felt it was just Angels owner Arte Moreno dropping a bag filled with $144.5 million dollars at the feet of their star outfielder. ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Eddie Butler will start for the Rockies on Saturday, filling in for Jorge De La Rosa (hand).
Butler has had his struggles here in the month of May and just last week he gave up four runs over just three innings to these same Phillies. What's worse is that these Phillies are one of the worst offensive clubs in the majors right now. Even teammate Chad Bettis had a perfect game working through seven innings against them on Friday. Butler just hasn;t been able to steadily produce. While the numbers may look good for the match-up, he is not recommended at this time. Analysis: Howard Bender
The Jets have re-worked Brandon Marshall's contract, giving him a $1.3M raise for this season.
Marshall's new deal gives him the chance to earn $2.7 million more during the next two years. He was scheduled to earn up to $7.7 million this season in the form of a $7.5 million base salary and a $200,000 workout bonus, but his new deal includes a fully guaranteed base salary of $9 million for 2015, though his workout bonus has been eliminated. Marshall's 2016 base salary compensation rose from $7.9 million to $9.5 million, which is guaranteed for injury only. The Jets gave no reason for the raise, but obviously it's to compensate for the fact that it's going to be a tough season for Marshall having to deal with throws from Geno Smith all year. Perhaps the extra money will keep Marshall from acting out like a petulant child as he's done in the past. Analysis: Howard Bender
Jonathan Broxton is no longer the Brewers setup man.
Manager Craig Counsell believes that his relievers are interchangeable and he doesn;t need to designate anyone in particular as a primary set-up man. Broxton will work with Jeremy Jeffers, Michael Blazek and Corey Knebel as the team's right-handers with no one working designated innings moving forward. It makes predicting holds a little more difficult here. Analysis: Howard Bender
