FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Update: Jonathan Lucroy left Monday night's game with a left foot injury.

Lucroy was the second catcher taken off the board in most fantasy drafts, and his owners should be concerned. He was removed from the game after a foul ball struck his left foot. Martin Maldonado replaced Lucroy, and he would be the team's option to fill the void in the lineup if Lucroy were to land on the disabled list. Analysis: Colby Conway

Rams re-signed restricted free-agent Rodney McLeod.

McLeod received the Rams' highest qualifying offer, a second-round tender worth around $2.3 million. McLeod has played in every game the past three seasons for the Rams and he will likely have a similar role this season for the team. He did a little bit of everything last year, registering 72 tackles while forcing two fumbles, recovering two and notching two interceptions. Analysis: Colby Conway

Jonathan Lucroy is out of the game after getting hit with a foul tip last inning. Martin Maldonado is now catching for the Brewers.

Lucroy was one the highest drafted catchers this season, so his owners have to be hoping him removal from the game was just precautionary. Of course, he has not been hitting well enough to deserve the high draft position, but had just started to turn things around seemingly, so this is not good for his future potential as a top catcher option. Analysis: Ivar G. Dennis Pitta (hip) is participating in the Ravens' voluntary conditioning program.

That's a feel good story, but it is entirely possible that Pitta will never play another snap in the NFL. Two hip injuries are problematic, at best for his future. This summer will prove important for his future. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Allen Webster was placed on the Triple-A Reno disabled list with shoulder fatigue.

Certainly not great news, as shoulder injuries are always a concern. He was not a shining star for Boston last season, but he is someone that they are looking to make improvements this season. Let's wait and see how serious this fatigue turns out to be. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Ian Kennedy (hamstring) will rejoin the Padres on Tuesday to be re-evaluated and could be activated off the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.

Kennedy being absent from the Padre rotation has been problematic for the team, although Odrisamer Despaigne has been a decent fill-in during his DL time. Still, the strikeout potential of Kennedy makes him a valuable fantasy SP and his return will be welcomed by his owners who hopefully had a DL slot to stash Kennedy. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has been scratched from Monday's lineup with a sore left wrist. Rafael Ynoa replaces him at third base.

Act quick if you have him in your lineup, and why wouldn't you before this news broke. Ynoa is not a good option to replace him despite his good spring performance.  Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Jeremy Ross signed his exclusive-rights free-agent tender.

The Lions rely on the passing game to move the ball, so getting the WR3 back is a good thing. There was never much concern that he would resign with the team and compete to become a bigger part of the offense this off-season. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Jarrod Parker (Tommy John) will start Thursday for High-A Stockton.

Parker continues to make his way back from surgery. His return date is probably late May or early June, and his return to the rotation is not locked in stone.  Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Jesse Chavez will start for the Athletics on Thursday.

With Jesse Hahn dealing with a blister, Chavez gets the opportunity to show what he can do as a starter. He is a good option in daily games on Thursday, as he has good strikeout potential. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Jesse Hahn (blister) will not make his start on Thursday.

As a ground ball inducing pitcher, he needs to have his feel of the ball intact to be effective. Sounds like he will just miss the one start, though, so do not panic and drop him.  Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Addison Russell as began playing second base in the minors which could speed up his major league debut.

The Cubs have light hitting Jonathan Herrera currently starting at second base after Tommy La Stella landed on the DL with an oblique strain. Russell was acquired in the trade that sent Jeff Samardzija to the Athletics last season and with Javier Baez away from the team to deal with the untimely passing of his sister it looks as if Russell is the next elite prospect to be called up from the Cubs system. Russell hit .350 with 39 runs, 13 home runs, 45 RBI and six stolen bases over 68 at Double-A last season and started 2015 playing for Triple-A Iowa where he's hit .297 with a home run and seven RBI over the first nine games of the season. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Chris Polk still hasn't signed tender, and is absent for start of Eagles offseason conditioning program.

The Eagles tendered him the lowest possible offer, which likely upset the restricted free agent. The Eagles have DeMarco Murray, Ryan Matthews and Darren Sproles under contract, so despite his power running ability, Philly may just be willing to let him go to another team without any compensation. Analysis: Ivar G.
