LeGarrette Blount has agreed to a two-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to league sources.

Blount will back up second year star in the making in Le'Veon Bell and will serve as a better insurance policy then what the Steelers had last season.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Andrew Susac missed his second consecutive day Thursday after having a root canal.

Susac is a catching prospect in the Giants organization who is expected to compete for the back up role behind Buster Posey. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Sergio Romo had an X-ray on his pitching hand Wednesday after he was struck by a ball in batting practice. He is expected to be fine.

It was a tough day for the back end of the Giants bullpen as both Romo and closer Santiago Casilla were struck by balls during batting practice. Casillla's X-ray came back clean and as this news item states the Giants expect Romo to be fine as well. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Update: Santiago Casilla had X-rays on his left ankle that came back clean.

It was a scary day for the Giants bullpen as both closer Santiago Casilla and set up man Sergio Romo were hit by balls during batting practice. Both X-rays came back clean so owners of both should not be concerned. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Rockies manager Walt Weiss said he talked to Corey Dickerson about having better plate discipline in 2015.

Dickerson is coming off a solid sophomore campaign where he hit .312 with 74 runs, 24 hrs, 76 RBI and eight stolen bases. Dickerson had nearly a 3:1 K/BB ratio last season which is likely the reason for Weiss's criticism of his plate discipline. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Nick Swisher (knees) has been hitting real well in camp, but his running has been restricted to walking and supervised jogs/sprints.

Swisher is rehabbing from off-season knee surgery and the Indians hope to get him into spring training games by mid-March so he will be ready for the regular season. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Buster Skrine is expected to earn between $5.5 million and $7 million per season in his next contract.

Skrine will hit free-agency coming off a season where he set a career high with four interceptions with 67 combined tackles. The price tag he's expected to earn would likely put him as one of the higher paid corners in free-agency this season. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Raiders are releasing S Tyvon Branch.

Branch has been limited to just five games over the past two seasons but was highly productive this year, totaling 30 tackles with one sack in three games played. At 28 years old he should have no problem locking onto another team in time for camp. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Miguel Cabrera has been hitting and throwing since arriving to Spring Training. He could begin working out at first base soon.

The Tigers are hopeful that Cabrera will be ready for spring training and has already been cleared for hitting and throwing but has yet to be cleared to take the field. Once Miggy takes the field a better timeline for his return should be established. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

LeBron James went to the locker room with his back wrapped on Thursday, but returned to the game.

While it's obviously a positive sign that LeBron returned to the game this should continue to be monitored after the game to see if his back tightens up at all. Analysis: Jonathan Impemba

Update: Falcons released running back Steven Jackson on Thursday.

This was expected and now confirmed. Jackson was a disappointment as a member of the Falcons and will now have to look for a new team in the coming months. Analysis: David Kerr

Matt Wieters (elbow) will catch 5-7 innings when he plays in his first spring game at catcher March 17.

Wieters is recovering from Tommy John surgery, so it's no surprise that the team will ease him into action behind the plate. This isn't a situation where Wieters will be limited once the season starts, so consider this to be standard procedure. Analysis: David Kerr Mobile App
