Joe Girardi officially says Michael Pineda is the Yankees’ 5th starter. Pineda has no innings limitation this season according to Girardi.

Laughable, the no innings limit part. You really think a guy who has thrown zero big league pitches the last two seasons doesn't have an innings pitched limit? If you do then you are as stupid as Girardi seems to think you are. ANALYST: Ray Flowers

Former Houston Texans center Former Houston Texans center Chris Myers is visiting the Seahawks is visiting the Seahawks Monday.

It is surprising that Myers has taken this long to make his first official visit after being cut by the Texans one week before free agency. The Seahawks are a natural fit being that they just traded their All-Pro center Max Unger to New Orleans in the deal for Jimmy Graham. He has made 128 straight starts, Myers continues to be serviceable in 2014.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Jerry Sands has been sent to Triple-A Columbus.

Sands was once a big time prospect in the Dodgers organization but since has become very well traveled. The 27-year-old outfielder is a .240/.317/.372 career hitter in 273 plate appearances at the major league level.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Michael Carter-Williams is expected to arrive late on Monday after attending hisgrandfather's funeral in Hamilton, Massachusetts.

First of all, our thoughts and prayers go out to Michael Carter-Williams and his family after the passing of his grandfather. This news should not affect his fantasy outlook on Monday night unless he ends up missing the game, but that does not seem like it will happen. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Cubs sent Addison Russell to minor-league camp.

The third of the Cubs prized prospects will start the season in the minors but is expected to make an impact this season. People have ignored his terrific spring because of all the attention paid to his teammate Kris Bryant. Russell is batted nearly .400 with three doubles in Catcus League action.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Cubs sent Kris Bryant to minor-league camp.

The entire Fantasy Baseball world shed a tear on Monday as this news broke. Players were all holding out hope that the Cubs would let him start the season with the big club especially after crushing nine home runs in Spring Training. Now, we all have to listen to speculation over and over and over again about when he will get the call. If you drafted him in the 2nd round, good luck getting a full return on that investment.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Cubs optioned Javier Baez to Triple-A Iowa.

This news does not come as a shock to anyone. Baez had a less than stellar spring, where he struck out in exactly a quarter of his 20 at-bats. Cubs were hoping to see more this spring after he mostly failed to do so over 229 plate appearances last season. He posted a marginal .551 OPS.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Jeff Teague (ankle) went through shootaround and is expected to play on Monday

The Hawks have clinched the number one seed in the East and are going into a back-to-back set of games. Teague will play on Monday along with the rest of the Hawks starters but expect a lot of them to rest on Tuesday. After the game on Tuesday, the Hawks are off until Saturday which will give everyone on the roster a much needed breather.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Mets have acquired Alex Torres from the Padres for Cory Mazzoni and a player to be named later.

The injury to Bobby Parnell leaves the Mets bullpen short going into the start of the regular season. Torres pitched in 70 games in 2014 to the tune of a 3.33 ERA. He will provide the Mets with a veteran left-handed arm in their bullpen.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Daniel Murphy plans to play in another minor league game on Monday afternoon as he works back from a pulled right hamstring, although he will continue to avoid running.

The Mets are doing all they can to get Murphy into the Opening Day lineup but he hasn't progressed to playing the field and his time is running out. He has been able to hit which is a good sign for him returning soon but even if Murphy starts the year on the disabled list, it isn't likely to be a long stay.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Reds released LHP Paul Maholm.

Maholm was pulled from contention for a spot in the Reds' rotation in mid-March and he was not going to end up in the bullpen. The southpaw should be able to find work pretty quickly but you should not count on him being on an Opening Day roster.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Reds optioned RHP Pedro Villarreal to Triple-A Louisville.

This was no surprise after getting torpedoed during Cactus League action this spring. He allowed 11 earned runs on 15 hits in eight innings of work. He will be used for emergency relief depth for the Reds. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Elvis Andrus has been scratched from Monday's starting lineup with stiffness in his lower back.

This does not seem to be anything that would hinder his chances of playing on Opening Day but definitely something to keep your eye on. We have seen Andrus perform very well in Spring batting .389/.410/.639 in 39 plate appearances. Analysis: Drew Phelps

Panthers signed RB Jordan Todman to a 1-year deal.

You would think a team with Denard Robinson and Toby Gerhart at the top of their running back depth chart would want to hold onto any running back. Jordan Todman was felt to be expendable by Jacksonville. Todman will battle for a spot in the Panthers backfield behind Jonathan Stewart. He will also have a chance to be the primary kick returner.  Analysis: Drew Phelps
