Joe Girardi has not officially announced it yet, but Michael Pineda has won the Yankees No. 5 starter's job, completing a successful comeback from major shoulder surgery in a little less than two years.
Pineda is flying up draft boards. He also last threw a pitch in the big leagues in 2011. No matter how good he looks right now how can you feel strongly about rostering a guy that hasn't thrown a big league pitch in two years that were missed due to injury? A risky proposition as anything more than a flier in the late rounds.ANALYST: Ray Flowers
Tom Brady completed 23-of-42 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns in the Patriots 30-24 OT loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
Brady turned in one of his better games of the season and Sunday and while he's certainly had better numbers in previous games it is hard to ignore the lack of weapons on the offensive side of the ball that he had at his disposal with injuries to Dion Lewis, Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola over the last three weeks. Brady tossed three more touchdown passes on Sunday night, connecting with Rob Gronkowski, Scott Chandler and Brandon Bolden for the scores. Late in the fourth quarter the Patriots passing attack suffered another tremendous blow as Rob Gronkowski was carted off with a knee injury which at the time appeared to be severe and yet Brady still managed to drive the Patriots down the field for a game tying field goal try to send the contest into OT. If Gronk is forced to miss any extended amount of time the fantasy impact for Brady will take another big blow as the available offensive weapons will be reduced to the very bottom of the depth chart.
