Freddie Freeman returned to the Braves' lineup on Wednesday afternoon with the confidence that his latest left thumb ailment is not nearly as serious as last year.

Freeman should still be drafted with the utmost confidence this season though expecting another nearly .320 batting average from him might be expecting too much.ANALYST: Ray Flowers

Salvador Perez was removed from Tuesday's game for precautionary reasons after taking a foul ball off the mask.

Perez played 150 games last year and is roughly on pace to do so again this year, so he doesn't cede much work behind the dish. Maybe he'll miss a game as an extra precaution, but you should expect him back in the lineup very soon. Analysis: Brett Talley

Scott Copeland has been optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.

Copeland made two appearances for the Jays in early May. The fantasy impact of this move is obviously nil. Analysis: Brett Talley

J.J. Hardy is hopeful he won't need a stint on the 15-day disabled list.

An MRI on Hardy's oblique came back clean, so his hope may be justified. Hardy has had some bad BABIP luck in limited time this season, but his strikeout and walk rates are as bad as they have ever been, so don't count on a huge bounce back even if he does stay healthy. Analysis: Brett Talley

Former Pelicans coach Monty Williams will join the Oklahoma City Thunder as an assistant coach for the 2015-16 season.

The Pelicans failed to win more than the 46 games they won in Williams' first season as the coach. However, they did win 45 games this year and get back to the playoffs for the first time since that 46-win campaign. Analysis: Brett Talley

Update: Marlon Byrd has a fractured right wrist.

The injury updates got progressively worse for Byrd on Tuesday. A fractured wrist likely means a prolonged absence. As previously discussed, there's little to no fantasy value associated with his likely replacements. Analysis: Brett Talley

Nick Castellanos went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI on Tuesday against the Athletics.

Castellanos broke out of a 0-12 slump by collecting two hits and two RBI in tonight’s game. It has been a slow start for him, but the team believes that he can get it going sooner rather than later. There is no direct competition for his starting spot, so it is believed that the team will give him every chance to catch fire. His only real value is for those in deeper leagues or AL-only formats. Analysis: Colby Conway

Alfredo Simon allowed four earned runs on four hits with five walks while striking out six in 6 1/3 innings on Tuesday against the Athletics.

Simon was cruising through this one until the seventh inning. He allowed three hits and threw a wild pitch before Angel Nesbitt took over, only to watch him serve up a grand slam to Ben Zobrist. Those runs were all charged to Simon, negating him of earning a quality start and a win. Simon has been stellar here in the early going of the season, but we saw this in 2014. Before the All-Star break last season, Simon was 12-3 with a 2.70 ERA. However, after the break was a different story. He went on to go 3-7 with a 4.52 ERA after the festivities. If you own Simon, he could be a great sell high candidate, seeing that his track record doesn’t typically equate to much success in the latter parts of the year. His next start will come on Sunday against the Chicago White Sox. Analysis: Colby Conway

Ben Zobrist went 1-for-4 with a walk and a seventh inning grand slam against the Tigers on Tuesday.

After missing some time on the DL, Zobrist has come back and has played as a serviceable fantasy option. His seventh inning grand slam was a great boost for his owners and those who picked him in DFS. He is still shaking off some rust from the DL stint, so owners should be patient with the veteran utility guy. Analysis: Colby Conway

Tyler Cravy went seven innings and gave up just one run on four hits while striking out six in Milwaukee's 1-0 loss to St. Louis.

Cravy was called up after Matt Garza had to be used on Sunday and performed well in his debut. The Brewers' offense didn't give him any support so he suffered the hard-luck lose. Cravy most likely will be sent down, but his start is opening eyes so there is now a door is open for him to be on the major league roster for another start. Analysis: Rob Trayah
