Jason Motte (elbow) threw to a couple of minor-leaguers Friday morning. His command wasn't good, but perhaps that's to be expected.
Motte hopes to fill a set up role for the Cardinals this season. He posses no immediate threat to Trevor Rosenthal for 9th inning duties for the Cardinals and the plan is for the younger Rosnethal to close all year long.ANALYST: Ray Flowers
Kevin Gausman (shoulder) threw 32 pitches in a two-inning simulated game.
With the success Gausman has seen during the simulated game, the Orioles are ready to push forward with his rehab assignment. Right now, he will head to High-A Frederick on Saturday and, barring any setbacks, he's scheduled to start for Double-A Bowie on June 11. He is expected to throw 60-to-65 pitches before he's activated from the DL. There's been some talk of him being stretched out to rejoin the rotation, but nothing has been decided as of yet. Prince Shembo went through waivers unclaimed.
It's not that no one needs him, it's that no one wants him. He's been charged with animal cruelty and is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend's dog. Let's hope he never plays an NFL down ever again. This guy's a piece of crap. Even if he's found innocent, what kind of a person is he anyway that everyone involved would believe him capable of such disgustingness. Total garbage. Analysis: Howard Bender
