Oscar Taveras, who had right ankle surgery last season, is sidelined indefinitely with a tight hamstring in the same leg. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said Taveras won't come north with the team if he can't show he can be 100 percent.
Bank on it - Taveras will begin the year in the minors. He's yet to prove capable of remaining on the field, and until he does it's highly unlikely he'll get a ticket to St. Louis. An elite talent, we'll likely be waiting until June to see Taveras in the big leagues. ANALYST: Ray Flowers
Johnny Manziel reported for the first day of voluntary workouts Monday.
Manziel has completed his rehab program and is looking to be the team's starting quarterback in 2015. There has been speculation about the Browns drafting a quarterback in this draft, but we will have to wait and see. Their selections in the draft will give us a glimpse of what the organization thinks about Manziel, as well as how they feel about him as their starting quarterback. The draft will be a big indicator to us, and to Johnny Football, about his status in Cleveland. Analysis: Colby Conway
Joe Nathan (elbow) threw a full bullpen session Monday.
Nathan was able to throw off a mound on Saturday, but today was his first full bullpen session since suffering the elbow injury. Joakim Soria has been dynamite as the team's closer, and it is quite possible that he returns from the DL as the team's set-up man, not the closer. This is worth monitoring, especially if you own Nathan or Soria. Analysis: Colby Conway
