Jason Babin voided the final two years of his Jacksonville Jaguars contract and is now a free agent.
The Jaguars were hoping to restructure Babin's deal but he was not that interested in staying in Jacksonville for another season. Babin basically told the Jags I don't want your money, I'm out of here. He was still due $6 million in each of the next two seasons. The 33-year-old will be looked at as a situational pass rusher on the open market. ANALYST: Drew Phelps
Chad Smith has arrived in camp on Saturday.
Smith was just claimed off waivers from the Tigers on Thursday so he had a couple of days to get his things and head to the A's spring training facility. He's a long shot to make the 25-man roster, but if he can continue to post similar strikeout and walk rates that he did in Double and Triple-A last year, he could get a call-up at some point.
