Grant Balfour said he felt flat on Saturday. He says he's going through the old dead arm period of spring training.
Seems a bit early to me, but then again, it's Balfour's arm we are talking about here. If he gets the dead arm issue over early, the better for his regular season production.ANALYST: Ivar G. Anderson
Cowboys RB Darren McFadden will start training camp on the PUP list. He has a hamstring injury.
McFadden being hurt isn't exactly shocking news as the running back has a long injury history. In 2014, he "enjoyed" his first career full 16-game season--even playing in every game, McFadden only registered 534 yards and two touchdowns. Some might think that the new scenery in Dallas will see him reach a resurgence, but it's highly unlikely (even if he does stay healthy). If he is going to be drafted, he should be taken in one of the last rounds as a low risk pick to stash on your bench in case he does end up shocking people. But Joseph Randle is a much more valuable back and should be taken way ahead of McFadden. Analysis: Zack Carpenter
The Tigers will get Daniel Norris in the David Price trade.
Norris will headline the package of prospects headed to the Tigers in exchange for David Price. He will likely stay in Triple-A for the time being where he holds a 4.27 ERA with a 78:41 K:BB over 90 2/33 innings. He did get five starts with the Jays this season and posted a 3.86 ERA with an 18:12 K:BB over 23 1/3 innings. Considered one of the top prospects in the Jays system, Norris should fare well for the Tigers now that he doesn't have to worry that every ball that hits a bat will be sent into the upper deck. The Blue Jays have reportedly acquired David Price from the Tigers.
It looks like the deal is happening, but not many more than Jays fans are pumped up about this move. As was reported previously when news of the deal was released, "Sure, he'd see incredible run support, but he'll learn hard and fast that he wants to start on the road and not home. The Rogers Centre is a launching pad and with Price's diminishing ground ball rate, he's going to have a tougher time keeping the ball in the yard than he did at Comerica or the Trop in Tampa. No word as to what the trade details are, but this is going to hurt the southpaw's overall value." Analysis: Howard Bender
