FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Jonathon Niese tossed throw two innings against Mets' minor leaguers on Thursday as scheduled and said afterwards that he had no pain in his pitching shoulder.

Nikola Mirotic (quad) is listed as probable for Monday's game.

Mirotic played 20 minutes Saturday, and it would be pretty shocking if he did not play Monday. He is just 7-21 from the field in the playoffs, and while he is probably due for a big game, you probably should look elsewhere for fantasy. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Brewers have signed LHP Trevor Lubking to a minor league contract and assigned him to the extended spring program.

Anyone who signs a minor league deal on April 26 is irrelevant, and likely always will be. Lubking had a 3.51 ERA in 48.2 innings with the Rays rookie club last season. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Tim Lincecum will make the start on Monday.

Sunday's game was rained out, and apparently the Giants just had to make sure the terrible Tim Lincecum did not miss his start. The Dodgers were scheduled to face Madison Bumgarner Monday, but now they get a much easier matchup. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Tony Parker will start Sunday for Game 4.

Parker started and played 26 minutes Friday, so this is not exactly a surprise. He has struggled all series, and look for Patty Mills to see extended minutes again if the Spurs fall behind in game 4. Parker probably should not be in your fantasy lineups Sunday even though he will get the start. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Update: Jae Crowder has a sprained left knee and will not return.

With Crowder out, look for Jonas Jerebko to see more minutes the rest of the game. Jerebko has averaged just 16 minutes per game so far in the playoffs. Analysis: Steve Pimental

J.R. Smith has been ejected from Sunday's game.

Smith has mostly behaved himself in Cleveland, but he was bound to get ejected from a game sooner or later. Iman Shumpert and Matthew Dellavedova should get most of Smith's minutes. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Jae Crowder had to be helped off the floor after taking an elbow and is headed to the locker room.

The Celtics are on the verge of being swept, so Crowder will have all summer to heal. He has proven he can be a quality rotation player in the NBA, but he is unlikely to contribute a whole lot for fantasy on a good team. If the Celtics add a wing player or two, Crowder will be a fringe fantasy player. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Brandon League (shoulder) was moved to the 60-day disabled list.

League hasn't even thrown from a mound yet, so he wasn't going to return for some time anyway. This does not affect his timetable, but it does open up a spot on the Dodgers's 40-man roster. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Manager Lloyd McClendon said he expects Tom Wilhelmsen will need another 10-12 days before returning.

Wilhelmsen was a solid closer once, but those days are long gone. He can help the Mariners, but it would take an injury or two ahead of him for Wilhelmsen to earn a significant number of holds. There is no reason to own him in any fantasy league. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Dodgers placed Joel Peralta on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury.

Peralta leads the Dodgers with three saves this season, and Yimi Garcia has a decent chance to be the Dodgers' closer until Kenley Jansen returns in a couple of weeks. Garcia is a decent pickup but not a must-add, as the Dodgers could mix and match for saves until Jansen is back.  Analysis: Steve Pimental

Dodgers placed Yasiel Puig on the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring injury.

It appears Puig has a good chance to return after the minimum 15 days, but we should have a better idea in a week or so. Andre Ethier is starting in right field Sunday, and he will probably platoon with Scott Van Slyke while Puig is out.  Analysis: Steve Pimental

Jarod Parker will throw about five innings and 75 pitches Tuesday for Class-A Stockton.

Parker made his first rehab start Friday, and if all goes well Tuesday he should continue to be on pace to return to the big leagues in late May. Parker should be added in deep leagues now, though there is no guarantee he will be good right away. Analysis: Steve Pimental

Coco Crisp (elbow) could be take batting practice by end of week.

After he starts taking batting practice he would have to head out on a rehab assignment, so Crisp is likely three weeks away or more from returning.  Analysis: Steve Pimental

Mark Melancon (rest) will not be available to pitch on Sunday.

Melancon has appeared in three consecutive games, earning a save in each. Lefty Tony Watson will likely get a save chance if one is available Sunday, though Clint Hurdle could elect to go with righties Arquimedes Caminero or Jared Hughes. Analysis: Steve Pimental
