FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

DeMarcus Ware has refused to take a pay cut and will be released by the Cowboys.

Tanner Roark is a candidate to fill in for Max Scherzer, according to manager Matt Williams.

A.J. Cole could be called up for the start, seeing that Roark isn't stretched out for a typical starter's workload. Roark was a good pitcher for the Nats last season, but the addition of Scherzer to the rotation forced him into a bullpen role. Roark has an 0-2 record with a 2.89 ERA and 1.18 WHIP out of the bullpen in 2015. Analysis: Colby Conway

Mets option Daniel Muno to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Muno struck out twice and went hitless in his first MLB start over the weekend. The Mets are going to roll with a six-man rotation, and they deemed Muno expendable. Rafael Montero will join the rotation to start tomorrow's game. Analysis: Colby Conway

Anthony Rendon (knee) will play at both second and third base when he returns.

Fantasy owners drafted Rendon pretty high in their draft and he is very close to returning to the Washington Nationals' lineup. Rendon hasn't had a real setback yet, but he did miss his rehab game today due to fatigue. He could rejoin the Nationals as early as the end of this week, but early next week seems much more likely. Analysis: Colby Conway

Padres recalled RHP Cory Mazzoni from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

The Padres need some bullpen help and they hope that Mazzoni can be a solution. He has a 1.08 ERA and a 14.04 K/9 in 8.1 innings at Triple-A El Paso in 2015. He could step into a large role, but fantasy owners should wait to see what his usage will be before adding the young righty. Analysis: Colby Conway

Update: Manager John Farrell said Pablo Sandoval had a whiplash-like movement. The team is hopeful he'll play Tuesday.

Sandoval had two hits, including a home run, before exiting with neck tightness. The team has two more games left in the series before an off day on Thursday, so Sandoval could return early and play in one of these two with the luxury of having a rest day before a weekend series with the Yankees. Fantasy owners will want to keep an eye on Sandoval. Brock Holt would likely fill in if Panda is unable to play. Analysis: Colby Conway

Update: Bucks say Michael Carter-Williams is available to return. He’s back on the bench.

MCW is keeping his ankle loose, because any sitting could allow it to tighten back up. Expect to see Carter-Williams back on the court shortly. Analysis: Colby Conway

Michael Carter-Williams has a sprained right ankle and his return is questionable, .

MCW is making his way back to the bench and he is walking much better. While his return is questionable, he is expected to return. He is on the sidelines keeping his ankle active, meaning he is going to give it a whirl. Analysis: Colby Conway

Padres optioned LHP Chris Rearick to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

Rearick will head to the team's Triple-A team after being borderline dreadful in the early parts of 2015. He has allowed an earned run in three of his last four appearances, and his 12.00 ERA is pretty bad. While he wasn't owned before, this move should confirm that he shouldn't be owned in any format. Analysis: Colby Conway

Michael Carter-Wiulliams is heading to the locker room after rolling his right ankle.

Carter-Williams looked in some pain and he spent some considerable time on the floor. He hobbled to the locker room, where the medical personnel hope that a roll of tape and adrenaline can get MCW through the rest of this game. Milwaukee is down 3-1 in the series and they can't afford to lose anymore. Analysis: Colby Conway

Update: Beno Udrih (ankle) participated in shoot-around this morning and will play Monday night.

This is extremely important to the Grizzlies, especially since regular starter Mike Conley won't be available for game four. Udrih will start in his place and he should play a large role in this one, assuming his sprained right ankle holds up. Analysis: Colby Conway

Ryan Vogelsong will make his scheduled start Wednesday.

Vogelsong made a spot start for Jake Peavy last week and the team will elect to go with him on Wednesday. He allowed just three hits (two were homers) and two earned runs in six strong innings of work. Vogelsong would be a strong spot start option for those in need of a start on Wednesday. Analysis: Colby Conway

Hector Noesi will have his turn in the rotation skipped following Monday's postponement.

Due to Monday's postponement, the team will elect to skip Noesi's scheduled start. Noesi is 0-2 with a 5.23 ERA and 1.45 WHIP thus far in 2015. His career numbers aren't much better, showing that this is what owners can expect for Noesi for the majority of 2015. Analysis: Colby Conway

Jeff Samardzija will start on Tuesday for the White Sox.

The riots in Baltimore were deemed bad enough that tonight's game should be postponed. Regular starters Ubaldo Jimenez and Samardzija will be the starters for tomorrow's contest. Owners of Samardzija need to keep in mind that he will likely miss an upcoming start due to his role in the brawl with the Kansas City Royals. Analysis: Colby Conway

Ubaldo Jimenez, who had his start Monday postponed, will now make the start on Tuesday.

Riots have broken out in Baltimore following the funeral of Freddie Gray and tonight's game was cancelled due to safety concerns. While the series could be played in a venue other than Camden Yards, Jimenez's fantasy value remains the same for tomorrow's start. Analysis: Colby Conway

Tacoma OF James Jones, who is on the disabled list with a concussion, is taking batting practice Monday.

Jones is currently on the 7-day DL, but taking BP is a good sign that his injury is not overly serious. He is waiting to be cleared to run the bases and play in the field. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson
