The Philadelphia 76ers and forward Danny Granger reached agreement on a buyout Wednesday that will allow Granger to sign with another team and be eligible for the postseason.
According to league sources, the Clippers are the frontrunners to sign Granger with an outside shot that he ends up with the Spurs instead. The Bulls, Rockets, Mavs, and Heat are also expected to talk to Granger, but it is the Clippers who have a leg up on these other teams because they can offer him significant playing time that other teams may not be able or willing to.ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Antonio Smith may sit out practice this week.
Smith is the subject of a child abuse investigation in Texas. The case has been dragging on for some time now, with the DA sifting through the report from the Fort Bend County Sheriff since February. Even if the case is ultimately dropped by the prosecutor, Smith could still face discipline from the league as part of its effort to improve its public image, as part of the personal conduct policy under the CBA between the players union and the league. Steve Pearce was 1-for-3 with a two run home run on Monday for Baltimore
After breaking through with a career year in 2014, Steve Pearce has struggled mightily this year. His fantasy owners have to hope todays home run is the start of a hot streak. Pearce is presently hitting .192 with a .194 BABIP which is far off of his career average of .250 with a .287 BABIP. Using the .250 as a guide, this is probably the best you can hope for this year but Pearce’s home run to fly ball ratio is in line with last year and today’s home run is his third in May.
