Celtics F Jared Sullinger (mild concussion) is expected to be out Wednesday vs. Atlanta.
As was previously reported, Sullinger, the Celtics leading rebounder, and Avery Bradley (ankle) will not play Wednesday against the even more decimated Atlanta Hawks who will be without Gustavo Ayon, Pero Antic, and Paul Millsap. All these injuries open up an opportunity to find some discounted value plays from both teams. From the Celtics I would target Kelly Olynyk then Brandon Bass. From the Hawks my first choice would be Mike Scott followed by Shelvin Mack and Elton Brand. ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Antonio Smith may sit out practice this week.
Smith is the subject of a child abuse investigation in Texas. The case has been dragging on for some time now, with the DA sifting through the report from the Fort Bend County Sheriff since February. Even if the case is ultimately dropped by the prosecutor, Smith could still face discipline from the league as part of its effort to improve its public image, as part of the personal conduct policy under the CBA between the players union and the league. Avisail Garcia left Monday's game with a knee injury.
Garcia left after less than two innings of action on Monday. He was coming off a knee issue that held him out two games before playing again on Sunday, where he went 1-for-2 with a strikeout. A problem significant to force him from the game, occurring with the same body part that sidelined him last week is of concern, so stay tuned for an update on his situation. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson
