There is a strong likelihood the Chicago Cubs trade SP Jeff Samardzija before Opening Day, according to two sources.
Although the Cubs are listening to offers for their ace, the price would have to be right in order to move him before Opening Day. The club would have more leverage if they waited until the trade deadline in July, so that is more likely to happen than a trade before Opening Day. No matter where he pitches in 2014, Samardzija has the high-strikeout ability to make him an above average fantasy pitcher this season. ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Jake Marisnick was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored on Thursday night against the Royals.
Jake Marisnick had two hits from the bottom of the order which included a double and a run scored in Houston’s 5 -2 win over Kansas City on Thursday night. His double in the second inning with two outs kept the inning alive and Marisnick scored on a single by Jose Altuve before Yordano Ventura left the game after a rain delay in the second inning. Although Marisnick struggled in the second half, he did finish September/October with a .275 average with three home runs and seven stolen bases. Analysis: Greg Jewett
