Chase Headley says his knee is feeling good and started rehabbing a week after surgery, so he got to offseason workouts earlier than usual.

Last season was a major disappointment for Headley and his owners as he hit just 13 home runsa to follow up a breakout 31-homer season the year before. With the knee being healthy and him ahead of schedule with regard to his rehab, the hope is that he posts numbers somewhere in between but closer to his 2012 totals. A .280-20-80 season would be a welcomed sight.ANALYST: Howard Bender

Kris Medlen allowed three earned runs on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings against Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Kansas City continues to find hidden treasure in free agency as Kris Medlen enters the rotation at a time when the Royals need help. Medlen won his second consecutive start on Saturday striking out five in 5 1/3 innings of work with four hits allowed and two walks. His ERA this year is 3.51 and his FIP is 3.74 with 25 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings pitched. Medlen will make his next start at home against the White Sox.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Asdrubal Cabrera was 1-for-3 with a run and a walk on Saturday.

Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit with a walk and scored a run in four plate appearances on Saturday. Cabrera is now hitting .374 in the second half with four home runs in 28 games played. For the season he is hitting .262 with nine home runs and 37 RBI with five stolen bases. Cabrera is 4-for-9 (.444) with a double lifetime against Danny Duffy who will start on Sunday.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

John Jaso was 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a walk on Saturday.

John Jaso has moved to the cleanup spot for the Rays and had a double with a run scored on Saturday. Through 45 games, Jaso is hitting .283 with 12 runs, two home runs and 15 RBI for Tampa Bay. He makes for a cheap daily option when the Rays face right handed pitching but Danny Duffy will start on Sunday so plan on Jaso being out of the lineup.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Jake Odorizzi allowed four earned runs on seven hits with two walks and five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings on Saturday against the Royals.

With Tampa Bay fighting to stay relevant in the Wild Card chase, Jake Odorizzi was not able to reach the sixth inning for the seventh straight start and took the loss in the process. Odorizzi was removed from the game after only 4 2/3 innings of work and allowed four earned runs, seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Odorizzi does have a 3.18 ERA for the season with a 3.15 FIP, so his numbers are in line and he will look to bounce back against at the Yankees in his next start.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Billy Burns hurt his left wrist sliding on a steal attempt but stayed in the game for Oakland on Saturday night. Burns has played 102 games for the A's this year with 59 runs and 25 stolen bases with a .296 average. Monitor his health going forward but Burns should be fine for next week.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Diamondbacks optioned Jhoulys Chacin to Triple-A Reno.

After a quality start on Saturday, Jhoulys Chacin was optioned to Triple-A Reno to make room for tomorrow's starting pitcher Allen Webster. Hopefully for Chacin this is a short stay with rosters expanding on September 1st. Chacin has 11 strikeouts in 13 innings for Arizona with a 2.70 ERA in two starts this year.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Update: Randall Cobb (shoulder) has not been diagnosed yet on missing any time.

While speculation is running rampant about Randall Cobb, nothing has been released officially by the Packers or their beat writer. Depending on the type of injury and the timetable for return, Cobb may miss an extended period but that is hard to determine without specifics.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Already hindered by a three game suspension due to violating the league substance abuse policy, Jeremiah Ratliff was seen on crutches with a walking boot as he left the locker room. Head Coach John Fox has said the ankle is not broken but there will be an MRI on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Ketel Marte left Saturday's game with a mild right hamstring strain.

When a speedster leaves a game due to a hamstring injury, it is never good. It is being reported as a mild strain but Ketel Marte could be out of the line up on Sunday and longer until he can run at full strength. In 26 games with Seattle, Marte is hitting .289 with 11 runs scored and three stolen bases.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Duke Johnson left Saturday's game in the second quarter with a concussion.

After missing three weeks due to a hamstring injury, Duke Johnson was removed from Saturday's game with a concussion. Johnson did have a run for four yards and a catch for one yard prior to the injury. Monitor his status going forward but this will cast doubt about him starting in Week 1.  Analysis: Greg Jewett

Calvin Pace (groin) will play in Week 1.

Veteran outside line backer Calvin Pace did not play Saturday night but will be ready for Week 1 according to coach Todd Bowles. Pace had five sacks for the Jets last year. Analysis: Greg Jewett
