Still a strong difference of opinion between Jeff Samardzija and Cubs in long-term contract talks: "If there wasn't a gap, we would have already signed."
A reliever for years, Jeff has been a strong starter for the Cubs the past two seasons. Samardzija's representatives are likely touting his K per inning arm and future outlook while the Cubs' folks are likely pointing to a 17-20 record and 4+ ERA trying to get Samardzija to sign for less than he wants. The Raiders could be interested in free agent wide receiver Randall Cobb.
Raiders' GM Reggie McKenzie drafted Cobb in his final year as the Packers' Director of Player Personnel. McKenzie apparently wants to reunite Cobb with his former mentor James Jones, who signed with the Raiders last offseason and was the team's most consistent receiver throughout the 2014 season. The question is, would the Raiders be able to convince Cobb to sign with them? They'll likely need to comfortably outbid the next highest bidder to earn rights to his services. If this scenario were to actually come to fruition, Derek Carr would get a nice boost in fantasy value. Analysis: Spencer Silva
