Miguel Cabrera is feeling stronger after offseason core muscle surgery.
Miggy had the surgery in October and has already been cleared for full activity. Cabrera has already reported to Tigers spring training facility to get an early start to his spring workouts and said, "Oh my god, I feel free, like I can do anything right now," Cabrera said Wednesday. "I don't worry about anything. I don't worry if it's going to hurt, if it's going to feel good if I do this. I feel free, ready to go."ANALYST: Michael Pichan
Tanner Roark is expected to be on a limit of around 70 pitches Monday.
Monday's start will be the first of the season for the 15-game winner from last year. Roark is taking the spot of Doug Fister in the rotation as Fister recovers from an ailing forearm. The pitch limit will is only because he has not been lengthened into a starter yet this year. Normally an efficient pitcher, the Cubs will test him as they average 4.0 pitches per plate appearance this year. Analysis: Matt Selz
Sean Doolittle is expected to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday.
The Athletics were thrilled to see the performance of Doolittle in his last rehab outing on Friday. Doolittle was reevaluated on Monday and was given clearance to be activated from the disabled list on Tuesday. Bob Melvin said they would work him back into the fold slowly and not put him right back into high pressure situations. The return of Doolittle hurts the fantasy value of Tyler Clippard.
