Update: Derrick Favors has a right hip strain and will not return.
Cam Newton has been named the NFL's MVP.
When defining an MVP, the phrase "makes everyone better" is associated with one. Cam Newton does just that for the Carolina Panthers. Newton passed for 3,837 yards and 35 touchdowns despite losing his top wide receiver from the previous season, Kelvin Benjamin. As a rusher, Newton gained 636 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. He was the quarterback for the top offensive team in the NFL which is 17 - 1 going into the Super Bowl on Sunday. Which is a place Carolina would not be without their quarterback and the NFL's MVP. Update: X-rays on Roy Hibbert's left ankle were negative.
In an already disappointing season, now Roy Hibbert is hurt for the Lakers. He is averaging 6.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game for Los Angeles after coming over in a trade from the Pacers. He has already been ruled out of returning against the Spurs on Saturday night but the good news is his X-ray on his ankle were negative. Monitor his activity in practice moving forward, but he may need until after the All Star Break to return for the Lakers. Analysis: Greg Jewett
