Rajon Rondo (knee) says he's fine, "just a little sore". He said missing a game was just rest.

Anderson Varejao (Achilles) will not return at any point in the finals against the Warriors.

Speculation arose this morning that Varejao could be activated for the NBA finals, but notion has apparently been vetoed. The Brazilian center suffered a torn achilles back in December, and is expected to need another couple months of rest, as much as he'd like to be back on the court.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Brewers designated Brandon Kintzler for assignment.

With Jean Segura ready to be activated, the Brewers will go with the extra position player as opposed to the extra reliever. Kintzler will be back up at some point once the Brewers need some extra bullpen help. Analysis: Howard Bender

Brewers activated SS Jean Segura from the 15-day disabled list.

Segura was just dealing with a broken pinkie, but all is well and he is having no trouble gripping the bat. Expect to see him back in the Brewers lineup Friday. Analysis: Howard Bender

Diamondbacks transfered catcher Óscar Hernández to the 60-day disabled list.

Just a clerical move here so the Diamondbacks could add Jarrod Saltalamacchia to the 40-man roster and bring him up. Hernandez is not expected back until the end of June anyway so this will not affect his timetable. Analysis: Howard Bender

Diamondbacks select contract of catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia from Triple-A Reno.

With Tuffy Gosewisch on the DL with a left knee injury, the Diamondbacks will bring Salty up to play alongside Jordan Pacheco. Neither make for great options, but if Salty can hit for a better average, his power potential could be seen playing in Chase Field. Analysis: Howard Bender

Diamondbacks placed catcher Tuffy Gosewisch on 15-day disabled list with left knee ACL injury.

Gosewisch left Wednesday's game after he jammed his knee and the MRI results indicated damage to the ACL. No word on whether or not surgery will be required, but Gosewisch is expected to be out for more than just the minimum 15 days. Analysis: Howard Bender

Todd Redmond has cleared waivers and will be outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo.

Not much of a surprise that he cleared waivers, especially with his 11.88 ERA over 8 1/3 innings this season. He's, at best, a mediocre reliever with minimal fantasy value. Nothing more. Analysis: Howard Bender

Corey Brewer wants to return to the Rockets next season, but can opt out of his contract if he chooses.

Brewer averaged 11.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in 56 games for the Rockets after coming over from Minnesota in a trade and is at the tail-end of a three-year, $15 million deal. While he says he wants to return, should some team come in with a substantial offer, he could jump ship. We'll just have to wait and see what the market dictates. Analysis: Howard Bender

Devon Travis (shoulder) will begin rehab assignment Friday night with Triple-A Buffalo.

Travis is eligible to be activated from the Dl on Monday, so the Jays will try to squeeze two or three rehab games in for him and hopefully have him ready. After a fantastic April he was really struggling in May, so now the question is, was he struggling due to the injury or did a well-timed DL stint mask the fact that he was massively regressing? We'll see what happens once he returns. Analysis: Howard Bender

Alex Rios will be activated from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.

The Royals have been going with a platoon of Paulo Orlando and Jarrod Dyson in right field, so they're probably excited to get Rios back in the lineup. The enigmatic outfielder has plenty to love about his game, but he has been prone to some really bad years. Here's hoping to seeing the former. Expect Orlando to be the expendable body cut loose. Analysis: Howard Bender

Kendrys Morales is not in the Royals starting lineup on Friday.

With the Royals playing at Wrigley Field this weekend, Morales will see only pinch-hitting work with no DH in play. It's possible they do give him one start at first, but only if Eric Hosmer is struggling. make sure you put Morales on the bench. Analysis: Howard Bender

Broncos placed LT Ryan Clady (ACL) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Well now we know why the Broncos were so so quick to add 30-year old Ryan Harris to the team. It's a tough injury for Clady who now has a long rehab road ahead of him. Analysis: Howard Bender

Phillies recalled Cody Asche from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

The Phillies seem ready to commit to Asche as their new starting left fielder which certainly gums up the outfield configuration for veterans like Ben Revere, Grady Sizemore and Jeff Francoeur. It also displaces Darin Ruf. While they may be happy with the defensive work he did down in the minors, Asche's bat never really heated up, so the team is still going to have some serious offensive woes. This plan may have looked good on paper, but it should be re-visited in a couple of weeks to see how things are panning out. Analysis: Howard Bender

Matt Holliday will likely not see time at first base this season.

There was plenty of speculation as to what the Cardinals would do with Matt Adams on the shelf for three to four months. One of the ideas was to have Holliday platoon with Mark Reynolds, but apparently that's not going to happen. Holliday remains happily entrenched in left field. Analysis: Howard Bender
