Fantasy Player Updates & News  Huge Overlay: $500k MLB Championship

Steve Blake posts second career triple-double in Wednesday's whopping of the Cavs in Cleveland. Blake finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 15 assists.

Blake's performance, a night after going 0-for-2 from the floor in his first game back from injury, went off in his second game back, which is more of an indication of how poor of a defensive team the Cavs are then it is anything else. So, do not read too much into Blake's breakout game and look for the trifecta in the Cavs next game against the Wizards, meaning the third point guard to post a triple-double against them in as many games.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Jean Machi will serve as the teams closer on Sunday.

Tazawa is dealing with a sore hip, so between that and having thrown 30 pitches Friday night, he's going to be held out of action Sunday. Whether or not this is something permanent is not yet known as Machi hasn't exactly been the most reliable of relievers this season. For now though, he'll be getting the saves. Analysis: Howard Bender

Junichi Tazawa has been removed as the teams closer.

Tazawa is dealing with a sore hip so while he gave up a run Friday, it's difficult to imagine that he won't see any more saves work down the stretch based on performance. Jean Machi will get the ninth inning again, but we've all been privy to his mishaps on the mound as well.  Analysis: Howard Bender

Bobby Parnell threw live batting practice Sunday. He expects to be activated Tuesday.

Parnell was dealing with some shoulder tendinitis but the inflammation and the soreness seem to have subsided enough that the Mets can get him back on the hill this week. He'll likely be of some use in leagues which count holds, but he's not going to have any sort of impressive fantasy value down the stretch. Analysis: Howard Bender

Mariners optioned Mike Montgomery to Triple-A Tacoma.

Montgomery was being skipped in the rotation this week because manager Lloyd McClendon wanted to give him a break to rest his arm and his mind. His demotion to the farm is strictly to enable the team to get an extra reliever in the bullpen. Montgomery will be back for his next start which should come Friday or Saturday. Analysis: Howard Bender

Mariners recalled RHP Mayckol Guaipe from Triple-A Tacoma.

Guaipe will provide some depth for the Mariners bullpen. Fantasy owners need not bother as he won't be a reliable source of holds nor will he be considered for saves either. Analysis: Howard Bender

Trevor Plouffe is not in the Twins starting lineup on Sunday.

With no injury reported, this just looks like a day off for Plouffe to get some rest. Eduardo Nunez will handle the work at the hot corner Sunday against Lance McCullers. Analysis: Howard Bender

Yunel Escobar is not in the Nationals starting lineup on Sunday.

Escobar is feeling some soreness and is still having trouble gripping the bat after having been plunked on the hand Thursday. He is considered day-to-day day as x-rays were negative, so expect a return at some point early this week. Anthony Rendon is at third for Sunday's game with Danny Espinosa at second. Analysis: Howard Bender

Jets have released CB Keith Lewis.

Lewis was a long shot to make the team anyway, especially with the improvements the Jets made with their secondary in the offseason. He'll look to find a job with another team now. Analysis: Howard Bender

Carlos Correa is not in the Astros starting lineup on Sunday.

As reported earlier Correa is battling a hamstring injury and will sit out on Sunday. Manager AJ Hinch will keep Correa out of the lineup and it is still unclear how much time Correa will miss with this injury.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Adam Lind is not in the Brewers starting lineup on Sunday.

Lind will get the day off on Sunday, he is having a huge August hitting .309 with 11 RBI. He has had a nice quiet season in Milwaukee with a slash line of .282/.361/.470.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Alex Rodriguez is not in the Yankees starting lineup on Sunday.

Being the Yankees are in Atlanta and do not have the DH in the lineup, Rodriguez will sit out on Sunday. At this point in his career he is a liability in the field and should be relegated to only being the DH.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Mark Teixeira is not in the Yankees starting lineup on Sunday.

Teixeira will get another day off on Sunday still battling the shin injury he sustained a couple weeks back. He will still try and avoid the disabled list but if he needs to stay out of the lineup he will hurt this team more than help them.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Cameron Maybin is not in the Braves starting lineup on Sunday.

Maybin will be out of the lineup on Sunday for the Braves for rest. He will be reinserted in the Braves next game. Maybin is having a huge year for the Braves hitting .271 with 10 home runs and 52 RBI.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Jose Reyes is not in the Rockies starting lineup on Sunday.

Reyes will get the day off on Sunday for rest as there is no sign of injury for the SS. He has been productive since coming over to Colorado and is now hitting .277 on the year.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin

Tom Wilhelmsen picked up his sixth save of the season against the White Sox on Saturday

With the trade of Rodney to the Cubs, Wilhelmsen has stepped into the closer role for the Mariners. He has done a good job filling in the role and is likely the guy in the ninth for the Mariners going forward.  Analysis: Dillon Conklin
