Carmelo Anthony scored 36 points with five rebounds and three assists in the loss to the Bucks on Monday. Anthont made 5-10 shots from behind the arc.
Anthony continued his recent serge Monday night and is now averaging 30.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals over his last five games. The move to the power forward position has actually increased Anthony's production, considering how good his post game can be, so there is no reason to think this recent bump in production will go away anytime soon. Nathan Eovaldi allowed four runs on seven hits with no walks and six strikeouts against the Mets on Sunday.
Eovaldi failed to build off his last outing and let the Mets get to him early, yielding four runs through the first three innings. Luckily the bats bailed him out and he was able to walk away with the no-decision after getting yanked in the fifth inning, having thrown 87 pitches (59 strikes). While Eovaldi showed some nice promise when he was with the Marlins, the move to the American League, the AL East and hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium has siphoned out what promise he actually had left. Being a fly ball pitcher in this environment does no bode well for strong ratios. He’ll face the Red Sox in Fenway for his next outing, one you probably want to keep him on the bench for.
