The Pittsburgh Steelers could consider signing SS Troy Polamalu to a contract extension in order to reduce his salary cap figure for 2014. He is scheduled to have a 2014 salary cap figure of just under $10.9 million.
Pittsburgh needs to get under the cap someway, and reconfiguring Polamalu's contract would be a good first step. They need to have room if they are planning on signing both Jason Worilds and LaMarr Woodley to maintain their LB crew.ANALYST: Ivar G. Anderson
Jose Abreu was 0-for-4 on Saturday ending his seventeen game hitting streak.
During his seventeen hitting streak, Jose Abreu hit .318 and was only four short of his career high set last year in his rookie campaign. But he is now hitting .283 on the season and has fallen short on the power numbers so far this year. Abreu is hitting more ground balls (49.1%) this year yet his home run to fly ball ratio has fallen nine percentage points from 26.9 in 2014 to 17.1 this season. Since the whole offense has struggled, it is exacerbated when their best hitter is not hitting on all cylinders either. Abreu is solid, but maybe not worthy of the first round status he achieved after one season in the majors. Analysis: Greg Jewett
Adam Eaton was 2-for-4 with a run scored, a triple and an RBI on Saturday against the Twins.
Adam Eaton has been a bit of a disappointment for fantasy purposes so far this year but he has been scoring runs for the White Sox. But hitting .236 on the season with a .281 BABIP is not close to his career .324 number and Eaton needs to be on base more to spark this offense. He has scored twenty runs but has only stolen one base in three attempts and has yet to be the player that many thought was capable after being acquired from Arizona. If the White Sox are going to score more runs, Eaton has to improve not only his batting average, but his steal conversions as well. Until then he is better left on mixed league benches unless you are desperate for runs. Analysis: Greg Jewett
