Fantasy Player Updates & News

Rudy Gay shines in loss to the Mavs as he scored a game-high 35 points to go with 12 rebounds, six assists, and a steal in 36 minutes of action.

Gay played arguably his best game of the season as he made 10 of his 16 shot attempts and posted his ninth double-double of the season, which is tied with Evan Turner for the third most among small forwards this season.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Josh Hamilton (illness) is in the Rangers starting lineup on Thursday.

Hamilton isn't feeling well, but he's still going to play on Thursday night against the Red Sox. It's been slow out of the gate for Hamilton--he's only 1-for-11 over his first three games--but he should find his groove soon enough. If he's somehow still available on your waiver wire, he should be picked up. Analysis: David Kerr

Jets have released QB Matt Simms.

Simms, of course, is the youngest son of legend Phil Simms. He was undrafted out of Tennessee in 2012 and has never started an NFL game. It's unclear whether or not he'll land a back-up gig somewhere else.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Cowboys signed fourth-round LB Damien Wilson.

At 6-foot-0, 245-lbs Wilson is undersized for an NFL linebacker. He's been praised for how hard he plays the game and was a strong defender against the run in college at Minnesota.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Manny Machado has been ejected from Thursday's Game 1 for slamming his bat and helmet by home plate umpire Toby Basner.

Basner refused to ask for help on a check-swing that appeared to be a non-swing on Machado's part. He'll likely be back for Game 2 of today's double-header.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Bengals have signed third round TE Tyler Kroft.

Kroft has been ticketed for move tight-end duties after the departure of Jermaine Gresham this offseason. Tyler Eifert is expected to be healthy and the primary pass-catching TE in Cincy in 2015-16.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Dennis Pitta (hip) was running some routes on his own and going through some position drills during practice on Thursday.

Pitta isn't expected to be a contributor this upcoming season, although he's guaranteed $4 million. The Ravens spent two of their nine draft picks on tight ends this past month, including a second-rounder on Maxx Williams, who most evaluators expect to get the bulk of the reps at TE going forward.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Julius Randle has been cleared to do full contact drills in half-court 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 settings.

Randle is recovering from a fractured tibia he suffered early on in his rookie season. 2014's No. 7 overall pick has gobs of upside and should be ready to contribute next season.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Paul Millsap does not need surgery on his shoulder, just rest.

After the Hawks were eliminated from the NBA Playoffs, it was reported he could need surgery on his sprained right shoulder. Millsap will head into the offseason as a free agent and he is reportedly undecided about how he will conduct his summer. He didn't play well in the playoffs, although it's tough to know how much the shoulder affected his play.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Blue Jays optioned RHP Scott Copeland to Triple-A Buffalo.

Copeland didn't pitch during his short stint back with the club, but recorded three scoreless innings in a previous stint earlier this month. At 27, he's not much of a prospect in spite of having strong success in the International League in 2015. He could eventually establish himself as a swingman for the Jays in the near future.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Ryan Clady sustained a torn ACL this week and is expected to miss Denver's entire 2015 campaign.

This is a huge blow for the Denver offense. Clady has been a boon for the Broncos since being drafted in 2008 and has earned four trips to the Pro Bowl in that span, including two first-team All Pro decorations. He was Pro Football Focus's 10th-best offensive lineman overall in 2014. Analysis: Spencer Silva

Jimmy Smith wasn't full go at practice, but was still very active during on Thursday's workout.

Smith had a lisfranc injury that required surgery and ended his 2014 season. When healthy, he's the Raven's best corner. They signed him to a long-term extension this offseason worth $48 million over four seasons.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Michael Campanaro will miss the rest of the spring with a partially-torn quadriceps, but won't require surgery.

The former seventh-round pick hasn't played much since being drafted out of Wake Forest last April. He dealt with hamstring issues last season, but in limited time has shown some ability to play. He had seven catches for a 102 yards and a touchdown in four games last season.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

The Red Sox recall Robbie Ross Jr. from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Ross will function as the mop-up man in Boston. He's been back-and-forth between Pawtucket this season, and has a 5.14 ERA in 14 big-league innings so far.  Analysis: Spencer Silva

Daniel Nava will be placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday.

The struggling outfielder has been awful of late, and he's headed to the disabled list with an undisclosed ailment. This could just be an excuse to get Robbie Ross on the active roster since the Boston outfield is quite crowded.  Analysis: Spencer Silva
