Lance Berkman, who started his career with the Astros, confirmed what everyone expected: He’s retiring from baseball.
“Physically, I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t think I can compete at a level I’m used to competing at,” Berkman told Houston TV station Fox 26. “I’m excited about it to be honest. I think it’s going to be great.”
Berkman rides off into the sunset, leaving behind a career .293/.406/.537 slash line with 366 home runs to his credit. He treated his fantasy owners right, at least right up until the very end, and he will be remembered fondly. Take care, Big Puma. It's been fun.
