When asked about new teammate Jose Abreu, Paul Konerko responded, "It looks like he's going to be a stud.

While all the recent attention has been given to Masahiro Tanaka, it seems like many have forgotten about the Cuban superstar Jose Abreu, (I landed him in the fifth round of a recent AL-only draft), who you may have read about here first when we brought to your attention at the beginning of last years WBC when we pointed out that Abreu had hit .453 with 33 home runs and had a .597 OBP in just 212 at-bats of professional ball. Again, Abreu accumulated those stats while in Cuba, but the 63 250 pound 26-year old projects to hit better than his country mate Yoenis Cespedes, and now seeing the Abreu has garnered the respect of another great hitter in Paul Konerko should give you more confidence targeting Abreu in your upcoming fantasy drafts.ANALYST: Michael Pichan

Mohammed Seisay suffered a dislocated shoulder during the Seahawks fourth preseason game on Thursday night.

The Seahawks gave up a sixth-round draft pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to get the services of Mohammed Seisay in early August. Seisay started the 2014-15 season on the Lions' practice squad, but ended the season on the 53-man roster. He was battling with Quandre Diggs, Chris Owens, Crezdon Butler, Josh Wilson and R.J. Stanford for one of the final corner back positions.  Analysis: Drew Phelps

Danny Espinosa went 2-for-2 with a home run on Thursday night against the Braves.

He has struggled at the dish in the second half, but one thing that hasn’t struggled is his mustache game, seriously, this guy’s got the best in the biz. Anyway, as a fantasy option, his 13 home runs are solid for a second baseman, but his slump might be too bad to trust in the fantasy playoffs. I hope that this home run is something to build off of.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Matt Wisler went 1 2/3 innings, allowed seven runs, on five hits, and three walks in a loss to the Nationals on Thursday night.

Coming off a start where he bounced back from another terrible start, Wisler slipped right back into his old ways on Thursday night, by getting shellacked by the hot and cold Nationals. In a mere 1 2/3 innings, Wisler allowed seven runs, on five hits and three walks. He should be owned in no leagues and may god have mercy on his soul.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Jordan Zimmerman went six innings, allowed one run, on two hits, and four walks, while striking out five in a win against the Braves on Thursday night.

Zimmerman pitched well on Thursday night, allowing only one run on two hits and four walks, while striking out five across six innings. The four walks were a little disappointing, but it’s hard to argue with anyone who only allows two hits across six innings. During the middle of the summer, Zimmerman hit a little rough patch, but he seems to be back on track now.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

The Cowboys have excused Greg Hardy from the final preseason game to attend the birth of his child.

Hardy is a veteran so the loss of a preseason game isn't going to hurt him at all. He is still opening the season on a four-game suspension, so he'll have plenty of time to get ready for Week 5. Analysis: Howard Bender

Browns head coach Mike Pettine says Dwayne Bowe in no danger of being cut.

Bowe was playing on Thursday night, so it seems possible that he could be cut, but we'll take Pettine at his word. Assuming Bowe remains with the team after Saturday, he will be a reserve at wide receiver. His fantasy value is limited to the deepest of leagues. Analysis: David Kerr

Caleb Thielbar cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.

Thielbar was placed on waivers at the end of August by San Diego and had no problem floating through. He'll head to Triple-A, but still has an outside shot of rejoining the big league club in the latter part of September. Analysis: David Kerr

Senorise Perry said there's ligament damage in his left foot/ankle.

Perry has already been placed on injured reserve, so his season is over. He will likely undergo surgery to repair the ligament damage in his foot. Analysis: David Kerr

Garrett Gilkey suffered a knee injury on Thursday.

Gilkey is set to start at right guard for the Bucs, so if this injury is significant, it could be a huge blow. He will be reevaluated and we should have an update on his status on Friday. Analysis: David Kerr

Erik Johnson will start Sunday's game for the White Sox.

In an effort to give Chris Sale an extra day of rest, the White Sox will start Erik Johnson on Sunday. Johnson has earned the start, posting a 2.37 ERA with 136 strikeouts over 132 2/3 innings pitched. If he fares well, he'll likely stick around. Analysis: David Kerr

Shawn Kelley (forearm) is expected to miss two or three more days.

Kelley has been bothered by a nerve issue in his forearm and it isn't completely healed. San Diego is hoping to have him back some time next week. Analysis: David Kerr

Tom Savage has gone for X-rays on his shoulder.

Savage is slated to begin the season as Houston's third-string quarterback, but didn't finish Thursday's game unscathed. His shoulder will undergo X-rays and he'll be reevaluated on Friday. Analysis: David Kerr

Al Albuquerque (hip) threw a 10-pitch bullpen session Thursday and said he felt good. He is coming in to pitch for the Tigers on Thursday night.

Albuquerque has been dealing with a minor hip issue, but apparently he feels good enough to pitch on Thursday night. He should be fine going forward. Analysis: David Kerr

Josh Johnson (elbow) will pitch one inning for High-A Lake Elsinore on Friday.

We are talking about Josh Johnson, so until he's actually pitching in the majors, we'll assume he will have some type of setback. It's possible that he'll log some innings for the Padres this season, but next year seems more likely. Analysis: David Kerr

Brent Jones said he believes he just sprained his right knee, but he will have all the usual tests done Friday.

This would be the best case scenario for the Giants. Assuming that he just suffered a minor sprain, Jones still has the opportunity to make the Giants' final 53-man roster. Analysis: David Kerr
