Fantasy Player Updates & News  Play Super Flex. Win $10k

Carmelo Anthony didn't practice Thursday in order to rest, the Bergen Record reports.

White Sox activated RHP Daniel Webb from the 15-day disabled list.

Webb was off on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte. Despite that going well, he is fantasy irrelevant as he is a low-leverage bullpen arm for the Pale Hose. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Jaguars have cut CB Tommie Campbell.

There was a thought that injury to cornerback Demetrius McCray would save Campbell from being cut. McCray is now being listed as probable with his knee injury, however, and the Jags have decided to move on from Campbell earlier rather than later. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Free agent forward Chuck Hayes will not be signing with the Rockets as expected.

Word is that with Houston signing Ty Lawson, the salary cap numbers could not be worked out to accommodate Hayes. The 32-year old front court player wants to play at least one more season, but the Rockets also offered him a chance to join their coaching staff, so he has that as a fallback position. Analysis: Ivar G. Devonta Freeman (hamstring) is not expected to play Saturday.

That will not aid Freeman in his quest to both hold off rookie Tevin Coleman and maintain his status as the lead RB for the Falcons. It seems as though the Falcons want Freeman to win the job, but he needs to get back to near 100% and participate fully in practice and preseason action to cement that role. Analysis: Ivar G. David Wright is experiencing "a little" stiffness, particularly in his right shoulder, manager Terry Collins said.

Any twinges that Wright experiences after missing so much of the season have to raise red flags about his health. He is being replaced in the field by Jose Uribe on Saturday. That being said, Wright has played 22 innings over the past two days, and the Mets are wise to give him time off. Uribe is hitting in the sixth hole against Boston starting right-hander Joe Kelly, and is valued at a very reasonable $2700 on FanDuel. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Update: Buster Posey is sore from being hit by a pitch just above his elbow on Friday, but anticipated being able to pinch hit Saturday and start Sunday.

It sounds like the pitch he took off his arm on Friday will not sideline him for any extended period of time. Consider his absence from the lineup on Saturday a simple day off after the late Friday night game. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Blue Jays have designated Ty Kelly for assignment

The Blue Jays claimed 1B/OF Danny Dorn off waivers from the Diamondbacks. To make room for Dorn, Kelly was DFA'd. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Giants are planning to bring in safety Stevie Brown for a workout early next week.

Brown was released by Houston on Friday. He previously was with the Giants and had a big season in 2012, racking up 56 solo tackles (66 total tackles). He would provide veteran depth in the defensive backfield for any team he signs with at this point in his career. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Buster Posey is not in the Giants starting lineup on Saturday.

This could be that the team is giving him a day off after a night game, or it could be in response to him taking a pitch off his elbow in the walk-off win against the Cardinals Friday night. His playing status for Sunday will tell fantasy players more. The Giants will use Andrew Susac behind the dish for the Saturday contest against the host Cards. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Cardinals released S Ross Weaver on Saturday.

Weaver had been buried on the depth chart in Arizona, sitting behind Rashad Johnson, Tyrann Mathieu and Chris Clemons at free safety. We wish him luck in finding a new home for the 2015 season. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Weston Richburg (knee) will not play in Saturday night's preseason game.

Richburg has not practiced this past week because of tendinitis in his left knee. The issue popped up in the second preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is working on managing the problem, but as evidenced by his absence in the third preseason matchup, all is not going well, or as well as the Giants would prefer. Keep an eye on his ability to start in Week 1. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson

Miguel Sano plans to be back in the lineup Saturday night after missing Friday night's game with a sore hamstring.

Twins manager Paul Molitor had said that the issue was not serious, and with him back in the lineup as DH on Saturday, that seems to clearly be the case here. He will cost you $4500 on FanDuel Saturday evening. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson
