Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he’s also been checking in regularly with quarterback Tony Romo following his back surgery Dec. 27 to repair a herniated disk.
“He says he feels really good,” Garrett said. “I think anybody who has that surgery will tell you the same thing: Initially, they feel great because there’s so much pressure back there on the nerves and whatever goes into that injury. So they get immediate relief, and then they have to recover from the actual surgery itself.
“So he’s moving around and everyone’s optimistic he’ll be back and ready to go for the off-season program.”
Orioles are expected to option Tyler Wilson to Triple-A Norfolk.
Wilson's demotion to Triple-A will clear a spot in the bullpen for Oliver Drake, who's been pitching unbelievably well in Triple-A. Wilson hasn't been particularly bad since being called up, appearing in two games and posting a 4.50 ERA and a 2.50 WHIP, but Drake's performance appears to have have won him the opportunity to take that next step. Athletics recalled Kendall Graveman from Triple-A Nashville.
Graveman will make the start in today's game against the Rays as a result of Drew Pomeranz being placed on the DL. Graveman struggled mightily in his four starts with the A's (8.27 ERA, 2.02 WHIP, 9/7 strikeout-to-walk ratio) prior to being sent back down to Triple-A, but has been dominant in his four minor leagues starts since then (1.85 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 14/9 strikeout-to-walk ratio).
