Aaron Cook is looking to make a comeback after he was forced to shut down after experiencing a tired arm in late July. Cook is fine now and looking for another chance.
While it's quite possible that a team so desperate for pitching could sign him, it's hard to say exactly who would be in the market for a guy who doesn't strike anyone out, has an injury history the size of a bread line in the Gulag, and hasn't posted an ERA below 5.00 since 2009. Yes, that's right, fantasy owners. Move along. Nothing left to see here. ANALYST: Howard Bender
Phillies recalled Cody Asche from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The Phillies seem ready to commit to Asche as their new starting left fielder which certainly gums up the outfield configuration for veterans like Ben Revere, Grady Sizemore and Jeff Francoeur. It also displaces Darin Ruf. While they may be happy with the defensive work he did down in the minors, Asche's bat never really heated up, so the team is still going to have some serious offensive woes. This plan may have looked good on paper, but it should be re-visited in a couple of weeks to see how things are panning out. Analysis: Howard Bender
