FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Jim Harbaugh is one win away from tying George Seifert for the most wins by a head coach in his first 3 NFL seasons.

The Athletics have released Cody Ross after being designated for assignment.

Ross only had two at-bats while in Oakland, but is now free to look elsewhere for a job. He has not been healthy the past couple of seasons, but even when he has been, Ross' impact has been minimal. He should not be effecting your fantasy team with the release, nor should he be impacting it if he is picked up as it looks like the ship has finally sailed on his career. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Padres are expected to promote top catching prospect Austin Hedges.

Hedges will join the team on Monday, for what reason, is truly unknown. He is hitting great in Triple-A with a .343/.413/.552 slash line to go with two home-runs and 15 RBI. However, Derek Norris has been fantastic for the big club, so Hedges might just be the backup for now so stayed turned to the situation. Analysis: Rob Trayah

The Dodgers have acquired Andy Wilkins from the Blue Jays for cash considerations.

Wilkins hit 30 homers last year in Triple-A to go with 85 RBI but will swap for the west coast after struggling early this year and yet to produce a home-run. He still has to sit behind Adrian Gonzalez so he will continue to be blocked not worth the add. Analysis: Rob Trayah

The Brewers have fired manager Ron Roenicke Sunday. His replacement will be named Monday.

Sources are leaning towards Craig Counsell being the next manager, a former Brewer himself. Milwaukee has started out 8-17 this season, and struggled down the stretch last season so the writing was on the wall, but it only took a month to see the MLB's first manager get fired on the season. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Brandon Crawford went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI as the Giants beat the Angels, 5-0.

Crawford will never be a savior for your team's average, but he continues to provide pop. He has a .500 SLG this season, with five homers already on the season to go with four other extra-base hits. He does have a problems striking out, with 22 in 78 AB and thus, his average usually sits in the .240s. The shortstop has a hit in four of his last five games, with four extra-base hits during that stretch. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Joe Panik went 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and an RBI in the Giants' 5-0 win over the Angels.

Panik was aslow to get into the season, but put together a solid end of April and now has picked his first homer of the season. It was just the third extra-base in his last ten games, but Panik has been able to knock in five runs over that stretch. The second baseman's power number will never be great, but Panik will be a good source of AVG and runs if he continues to sit in the two-hole for San Fran. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Tim Lincecum rebounded from a poor start on Monday with eight innings of three-hit shutout pitching to go with four strikeouts as he improved to 2-2 on the season.

Vintage Lincecum showed up on Sunday, throwing eight innings of sparkling ball, lowering his ERA to 2.40 on the season. His WHIP will never be great because of his "effective wildness", but his one walk allowed was a season low. He takes his .245 BAA into a one start week next week against Miami. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Nori Aoki went 1-for-3 with a solo home-run as the Giants beat the Angels 5-0 on Sunday.

Aoki has found a nice home in San Francisco after moving from Kansas City in the offseason and provided a spark at the top of the line-up. His .307 AVG fits well with his .391 OBP, but you shouldn't believe any more power is coming from the small outfielder. His speed and contact rates is what is going to make any type of fantasy production last this season. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Jeff Weaver was rocked on Sunday, giving up five earned runs on ten hits while only striking out two, falling to 0-4 on the season.

Weaver appeared to be turning the corner in his two no decisions, however, he has been blitzed for 16 hits and 11 earned runs in his last two starts. He has only struck out 15 guys in 34.1 innings and it is time to make the move to get Weaver off your team. The veteran's velocity has plummeted and he is no longer missing bats so i there is another option out there, good or bad, take it and run away from Weaver. Analysis: Rob Trayah

The Dodgers will move Carlos Frias into the starting rotation after designating Scott Baker for assignment.

Frias worked primarily has a starter until last year in the minors so this isn't a brand new experiment. The Dodgers were impressed by Friday night's performance, enough to make him an everyday starter, but that doesn't mean that you should make a move to put Arias on your fantasy team. He lacks strikeout numbers and can be wild so take your time on making Arias a member of your team. Analysis: Rob Trayah
