UPDATES & NEWS
As expected, Panthers WR Steve Smith is active Sunday.
Smith gave himself an 89-percent chance earlier in the week, no doubt a bit of "clever" gamesmanship from the veteran chatterbox. The 49ers ranked 11th in the league against No. 1 wideouts, allowing an average of 75.2 yards per game to them, but with Carlos Rodgers inactive, things could change a bit. Perrish Cox will fill in for Rodgers and the 49ers could work out of the nickel-package mostly, just like last week, so Smith should still see a lot of defensive attention. ANALYST: Howard Bender
Carlos Correa will be promoted to Triple-A Fresno in May.
Correa was mashing in Double-A Corpus Christi, hitting .383 in 23 games with five home runs, 25 RBI and 11 steals. Houston has a need at shortstop right now, and Correa is the long term fix, but it seems that they aren't ready to promote him yet. Correa needs to be on everyone's radar as he has some serious potential in that 6'4" frame of his. Analysis: Colby Conway
Eric Campbell has been optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Campbell has just five hits in his last 10 games and the team will send him to the minors to get some at-bats. Johnny Monell will be promoted for tonight's game, so it's likely that Campbell is the one being sent down to make room for the young catcher. In any case, it's safe to remove Campbell from your fantasy team. Analysis: Colby Conway
Denver likes Ty Lawson, but are open to a trade.
Lawson averaged 15.2 points, 9.6 assists, and 3.1 rebounds this season as a member of the Denver Nuggets. Trading him could allow the organization to get some young players and draft picks, or simply just to clear some cap room. It has been rumored that the Boston Celtics have inquired about the point guard's availability. Analysis: Colby Conway
