Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith has claimed through Instagram that he will play in the Sunday playoff game against San Francisco.
"Damn right I'm playing wouldn't miss this for the world," he wrote per the Charlotte Observer.
Smith is listed as questionable with a knee injury. The team has yet to confirm his availability.
This needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Smith loves to banter with the press, but even without the team giving him the OK, I would expect him to be out there for the matchup against the 49ers. Keep you eye on the injury report today or tomorrow morning if you plan on using him in your daily lineup.ANALYST: Ivar G. Anderson
Nationals placed Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list with neck tightness.
Something had to be wrong with Strasburg, given his season-long struggles. He has not shown his usual control with his off-speed pitches and needs to get healthy to return to his expected dominant self, and the DL trip is a start in that direction. There is no hint that the neck issue has been the cause of his problems this season, but at least he gets to take some time off to be examined and hopefully set on track to pitch well again. Grizzlies are exploring signing center Greg Oden.
Oden, the former first overall draft pick in the 2007 draft, last played for the Heat in 2014. Knee injuries have interrupted his career, limiting him to two seasons with Portland and the aforementioned time with Miami. He may decide to attend the upcoming Grizzly free agent camp in June, but nothing is in concrete yet. Analysis: Ivar G. Anderson
