Carlos Gonzalez was operated for appendicitis last night in Denver. He had strong stomach pain and went to the emergency room.
Better that he had the procedure now than closer to the season as the appendectomy always seems to screw things up for players at the plate. At least now he'll have ample time to recover and get his swing back before the season starts. Of course, the surgery that he didn't have -- the one to fix the sprained finger that kept him out for the final two months of the 2013 season -- could be the one that affects him the most. While he remains a top-10 overall fantasy pick, we're still seeing enough red flags to warrant monitoring his progress.ANALYST: Howard Bender
Zach Randolph (illness) will not play on Tuesday.
With Zach Randolph and Beno Udrih sitting out because illness and Tony Allen serving a one-game suspension, the Grizzlies will lean on Marc Gasol and Mike Conley to carry the load against Utah. Kosta Koufos could be in line to get the start with Randolph out, but is not worth a look in the fantasy department. Analysis: Keith Tro
