Rangers LHP Derek Holland damages his left knee in a fall at home. He had surgery today and is out until possibly mid-season.
Rangers GM Jon Daniels said this won't spur the team to sign a "big ticket" pitcher, such as Masahiro Tanaka. Rather, he said Holland's replacement will likely come from within the organization, such as Robbie Ross. This is a big deal for the Rangers, Holland was coming off a career-best season in which he posted a 3.42 ERA in 213 innings of work.ANALYST: Drew Phelps
Update: Corey Dickerson was removed from Saturday's game with a left quad injury.
While the news regarding Dickerson's plantar fasciitis was positive, he was removed after he fouled a ball off his back leg and is now day-to-day with what the team is calling a quad injury. When his leg appeared to be swollen, manager Walt Weiss opted to play it safe and remove Dickerson who had gone 0-for-3 in Saturday's game against the Giants. Consider him day-to-day for right now and figure he'll be a game-time decision for Sunday. Analysis: Howard Bender
