Updated: Panthers receiver Steve Smith has vowed to play on Sunday against the 49ers. He also has vowed to practice on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, he’ll deliver on the first of the promises. Per a league source, Smith is expected to practice on a limited basis with a knee injury.
Smith hasn't practiced in over two weeks, so a lot is riding on his participation today in regards to this weekend's game. As long as Smith can go through practice the next couple of days there is no doubt that he will suit up for Sunday's game against the Niners. ANALYST: Matthew Beck
Stephen Piscotty went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to the Cubs.
Things definitely looked promising for the Cardinals when Piscotty gave the team an early 2-0 lead with with one swing of the bat in the top of the first inning. However, the offense largely dried up for the Cardinals after that and their season is now done. Piscotty was simply outstanding in this NLDS, going 6-for-16 with three homers, a double, six RBI and five runs scored. The sweet-swinging rookie has quickly made a name for himself in St. Louis and around the league. Analysis: Nate Miller
Ravens cut CB Rashaan Melvin on Tuesday.
Melvin started some games late last year for Baltimore, including some playoff games. But after being injured in the preseason and getting benched at halftime of Week 3, he just lost favor with the coaching staff. This isn't your run-of-the-mill no name being cut, so the Ravens are shaking things up a bit. Analysis: Brett Talley
