The Dodgers are making progress on a Don Mattingly extension. The deal is expected to be done soon.
Mattingly understands he's the manager of a club with a massive payroll so he's expressed to the Dodgers his wish to avoid being a lame-duck manager in the last year of his contract. It looks like his wish will be granted. Anyone that can hold together this club of divergent personalities should be rewarded. ANALYST: Ray Flowers
At this point it is a forgone conclusion that Mattingly will be back with a good sized extension. The Dodgers will look to build upon what was a phenomenal ending to the 2013 season.ANALYST: Jeff Mans
Mariners recalled LHP Lucas Luetge from Triple-A Tacoma.
The Mariners play around with their 25-man roster often, and now it appears that they are in the market for a left handed reliever, which makes Luetge's name a popular option for a call up. Even though he is getting the call to the show, don't expect much fantasy value, as he figures to see no starts and no save opportunities. Analysis: Dom Murtha
Eduardo Rodriguez will start Wednesday at Fenway Park.
Combining the Red Sox ineptitude at the starting pitching spot so far this season with Rodriguez's dominance last night, it comes as no surprise that he will be given every opportunity to keep pitching in the bigs going forward. Considering how well Rodriguez looked last night, he might be worth a pickup for Wednesday if you have an extra roster spot. He certainly is a high demand player in AL only leagues. Falcons have waived Prince Shembo.
Easy move after hearing the news today that he allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend's dog. He may get another job after all of this news is sorted out and he gets exonerated, but if not, he can kiss his NFL career goodbye. Analysis: Dom Murtha
Tom Brady’s appeal hearing will be held June 23rd.
It's tough to tell if Brady will get his suspension reduced at this point, but he would be stupid not to try. The last time the Pats had to take an extended period of time without their fearless leader was in 2008, where they went 11-5 with Matt Cassel at the helm. This is not to trivialize the importance of arguably the best QB of all-time, but I'm sure coach Bill has a plan if the suspension doesn't get reduced. Analysis: Dom Murtha
