The Dodgers are making progress on a Don Mattingly extension. The deal is expected to be done soon.
Mattingly understands he's the manager of a club with a massive payroll so he's expressed to the Dodgers his wish to avoid being a lame-duck manager in the last year of his contract. It looks like his wish will be granted. Anyone that can hold together this club of divergent personalities should be rewarded. ANALYST: Ray Flowers
At this point it is a forgone conclusion that Mattingly will be back with a good sized extension. The Dodgers will look to build upon what was a phenomenal ending to the 2013 season.ANALYST: Jeff Mans
Justin Pugh (concussion) is not practicing Wednesday.
This is an odd situation as the offensive lineman is now in the concussion protocol, but the Giants only said Pugh was dealing with an illness. Apparently, Pugh has had concussion-like symptoms prior to Week 9 and it’s never a good sign he is still having issues after the bye week. Consider the offensive lineman doubtful at best for Week 12. J.J. Watt named AFC Defensive Player of the Week
Watt continues to be a monster and had another huge week as he collected eight tackles and two sacks in the Texans victory over the Jets. For the season, Watt has 50 combined tackles and 11.5 sacks and will once again be one of the top IDP performers and will strongly be considered to win the defensive player of the year award. Eric Ebron said his recent struggles will end this week.
Ebron has been all hype since he was drafted by the Lions in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Fantasy owners don’t fall for this spin and look elsewhere if tight end is a position of need. Ebron dropped a would be touchdown against the Raiders and finished the game without recording a catch. The Lions tight end is trying to remain optimistic, but his fantasy value moving forward remains limited. Analysis: Phil Backert
