Carmelo Anthony never said he didn't want to play with Chris Paul. But he called the recent report that the Knicks and Clippers might consider an Anthony-for-Blake Griffin trade "silly and stupid."
Clippers coach Doc Rivers also used the word "stupid" four times in reaction to the ESPN report, which said the two sides haven't had any discussions.
Muhammed Wilkerson will report to training camp Wednesday.
Wilkerson has decided to prove it on the field in 2015 that he is deserving of a mega deal next off-season when he becomes a free agent. He will receive $6.96 million in the final year of his rookie deal. If he does continue to be a dominant defensive lineman, he could command at least what the Saints Cameron Jordan received two-months ago which was five-years, $60 million dollars. Rockies acquired SS Jose Reyes and RHPs Jeff Hoffman, Miguel Castro, and Jesus Tinoco from the Blue Jays for SS Troy Tulowitzki and RHP LaTroy Hawkins.
So the trade that everyone and their grandmother reported late Monday night is now officially official. The Blue Jays get a power-hitter they didn't really need, but apparently for them, it was about getting a guy who could be on the field more. Oh the irony. Toronto, given the Rodgers Centre dimensions, is probably the only safe place for Tulo to go and still maintain those numbers he's posted over the year at Coors Field. Hawkins will join the bullpen. As for Reyes, he'll immediately slot in at shortstop for the Rockies and probably take over as their primary leadoff hitter. The relievers will all likely enter the Rockies system at various levels. Overall, this trade is a lateral move for all parties involved. Analysis: Howard Bender
