Fantasy Player Updates & News  Huge Overlay: $500k MLB Championship

Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall was fined $7,875 for striking Giants LT Will Beatty in head after play during which Beatty broke his leg Sunday.

Orioles have selected the contract of Dariel Alvarez from Triple-A Norfolk.

Alvarez has posted good numbers in Triple-A this season, and will likely be an asset headed into the home stretch of the season. He might however, struggle to see consistent at-bats, so keep an eye on the daily lineups.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Ike Davis had successful arthroscopic hip surgery Thursday.

Good for Davis. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, he was terrible all season long even prior to the injury. Better luck next season.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Orioles optioned OF Henry Urrutia to Triple-A Norfolk.

Urrutia had a nice little 10 game stretch where he was relevant in the bigs, but the O's got their use out of him and he was optioned back to Triple-A. Don't be surprised if he is back with the team for September call-ups.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Josh Hamilton (knee) is taking batting practice on the field. He could be activated on Monday.

Regardless of when he is finally back on the field playing in real games, fantasy owners just need to give up on Hamilton. His body is just too unreliable to expect him to be a consistent fantasy contributor going forward.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Chris Capuano cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton.

This is the fourth time that Capuano has been cut this season, but it's no blame on the Yankees, as he just hasn't gotten the job done. Consider him a fantasy zero going forward.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Toure' Murry will return on a non-guaranteed deal for training camp with the Wizards.

The young guard is a hard worker, who would be a deep bench asset to any NBA team. I'm sure he will make the Wizards, regardless of this non-guaranteed moniker.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Manager Paul Molitor remains optimistic Glen Perkins will be available Friday but won't return to closer role right away until he shows he's healthy.

Perkins received a cortisone shot, but word is that it hasn't exactly worked as planned. Kevin Jepsen will continue to close out games until Perkins proves that he is 100-percent. Analysis: Dom Murtha

The Raiders have waived offensive tackle Quinterrius Eatmon.

Eatmon, regardless of if he ever had a legitimate shot at making the team is an offensive tackle, and holds zero fantasy value.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Carlos Correa will miss a second consecutive game.

Instead, Marwin Gonzalez will play short and bat seventh in place of the resting Correa, who is dealing with what he is calling "... a little soreness". Gonzalez is a career 0-for-6 against Twins starting pitcher Kyle Gibson.  Analysis: Dom Murtha

Jadeveon Clowney won't play in any preseason games.

No surprise here, as the Texans see no reason to risk Clowney in a meaningless game. Considering this, expect him to be rusty in his first few regular season games, so don't add him until around Week 3 or 4. Analysis: Dom Murtha

Tampa Bay released LB Orie Lemon on Friday.

Lemon was released by the Bucs in order to make room for kicker Conor Barth and long snapper Brandon Harston. At this point, he has a chance to make a practice squad with another team at best.  Analysis: Dom Murtha
