Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall was fined $7,875 for striking Giants LT Will Beatty in head after play during which Beatty broke his leg Sunday.

Diamondbacks recall RHP Matt Stites from the Triple-A Reno.

Stites was recalled to take recently demoted Allen Webster's spot. Stites hasn't appeared with the big club this season, but posted a 5.73 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 33 innings in 2014. Don't expect too much from him.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Diamondbacks option RHP Allen Webster to Triple-A Reno.

Webster has been pretty abysmal in four starts with the Diamondbacks. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 7.11 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 19 innings. He'll head back to Reno for some more seasoning in the minors.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Hanley Ramirez (wrist) will take batting practice on the field Tuesday.

This doesn't mean that he's a game-time decision. He's still not ready to return to the lineup. It will definitely be something to keep an eye on, but depending on how he feels after BP, Ramirez could return for Wednesday's contest.  Analysis: Brian Rothstein

Braves will wait until Wednesday to officially announce Manny Banuelos as Thursday's starter.

Williams Perez was due to start Thursday's series finale against the Nats however he was struck by a comebacker in his last start and will miss Thursday's now. Manny Banuelos is having a sparkling season in Triple-A Gwinnett posting a 6-2 record and 2.29 ERA with an even better 1.59 ERA over his last 11 outings. Banuelos was once an untouchable prospect in the Yankees system but struggles and Tommy John Surgery changed that as the Braves were able to give up Chasen Shreve and David Carpenter for him this offseason. Banuelos still holds the potential to be a very good lefty starter and will make his big league debut on Thursday. Analysis: Matt Selz

Manager Bryan Price says Billy Hamilton will have to be more consistent before he goes back to full time leading off.

These are not surprising comments from his manager given the season that Hamilton is having. A .224/.273/.295 line is what the speedster has managed to put up this year with 40 thefts to go along with it. While his defense and speed have been on display this season, it's his bat skill that fas fallen woefully behind and it currently sits .26 points behind last year's AVG and OBP. Analysis: Matt Selz

Manager Pat Murphy says Will Middlebrooks is still sore after tripping on bat Sunday, but will tape it up and give it a go Tuesday.

This is good news for Padres fans as Middlebrooks had to come out of the game on Sunday after tripping on the bat while trying to catch a pop up in foul territory. If Middlebrooks can't go for the Padres Yangervis Solarate would be the most likely candidate to take over. Analysis: Matt Selz

Jonathan Schoop will not be activated in the next few days.

The Orioles appear to be sending the recovering Schoop to Frederick to play out the week in the minors. It was thought that Schoop, who hasn't played a major league game since April 17th, could be activated Monday or today as they take on the Rangers at home. Baltimore has decided though that he needs a little bit more work before rejoining the O's lineup. Look for him to be activated early next week. Analysis: Matt Selz

Brandon Phillips is on the field Tuesday taking grounders to test his hands.

Phillips is not in the lineup for Cincinnati Tuesday but it is a good sign that he is out taking grounders. The Reds expect him back in the next couple of games after getting some time to rest his injured hands. Ivan De Jesus will continue starting at second until Phillips comes back. Analysis: Matt Selz

Warriors have interest in free agent Marco Belinelli.

A weapon from 3-point range off the bench is one of the only things the Warriors are missing from a championship run this season. Belinelli, who started his career in Oakland, would fit just that role for Steve Kerr and would make an already tough team tougher to defend. Charlotte is also rumored to be interested in the Spurs SG as we near ever closer to the start of free agency in the association. Analysis: Matt Selz

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez says Freddie Freeman is "frustrated" and his injured wrist is just not getting better.

Freeman is eligible to return from his stint on the DL on Friday (July 3rd), however that does not appear likely at this point. Earlier this week Freeman received a PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma injection in order to speed up the healing process of his wrist contusion. There is no timetable for his return right now. Analysis: Matt Selz

James Loney is hoping to return to the Rays lineup over the weekend.

Loney is starting his rehab assignment Tuesday night at Class-A Port Charlotte along with John Jaso and Andrew Bellatti. Loney will DH tonight for the Stone Crabs during what appears to be a quick rehab assignment. The Rays could use his bat back in the lineup as they try and chase down the Orioles and regain first place in the AL East. Analysis: Matt Selz

As expected, Eric Hosmer remains out the Royals lineup on Tuesday.

It was reported yesterday that Hosmer is not expected to be in the Royals lineup until Thursday while he nurses a mild sprain of a finger. If Hosmer does not return by the start of the weekend the concern will most certainly start to grow, as Hosmer has been a pivotal part of Kansas City's lineup over the last few years. Analysis: Matt Selz

Max Muncy has been optioned to Triple-A Nashville.

Muncy has struggled this season in the majors and with Chris Bassitt coming up to start for the ailing Sonny Gray, the A's need to make a roster move. Muncy should find his way back to Oakland's roster at some point this season. Analysis: Matt Selz
