FANTASY PLAYER UPDATES & NEWS

Mark Mulder has agreed to Minor League deal with Angels.

Colby Rasmus has been a different hitter on the road than at home in 2015. Through 17 games, he is batting .067 (1-for-15) with no home runs or RBI at home, while he is batting .350 (14-for-40) with one triple, three doubles, three home runs and seven RBI on the road.

It's difficult to pinpoint exactly why Rasmus seems to be struggling so much in his new home, especially when Minute Maid Park favors the hitters. Perhaps it's the batter's eye in center field and the way he's picking up the ball out of the pitcher's hand, but there is really no empirical evidence as to why his splits look this bad. Your best bet is to find him a platoon partner on your roster and sit him during homestands until he figures things out.  Analysis: Howard Bender

Shin-Soo Choo is working through some major offensive struggles.

Choo's slash line of .096/.254/.173 is the stuff of which fantasy nightmares are made. His strikeout and walk rates are the same as they've alwys been, but his biggest problem right now is that he's swinging at and making contact with far too many pitches outside the strike zone. When he's up there hacking away, the contact that he is making is terrible. It's produced a 54.1-percent ground ball rate and a .111 BABIP. He needs to get out of his head and fix his batter's eye and once he does, the hits will start to come and everything should fall back into place for him. It's slow-going for sure right now, but he is not a player you really want to give up on just yet. Analysis: Howard Bender

Orioles have postponed Tuesday's game. An announcement regarding the make-up date will be made as soon as possible.

With civic unrest still prevalent on the streets of Baltimore, it is best that the game get postponed. We at Fantasy Alarm wish everyone in the area or with family/friends in the area all the best and hope that everyone stays safe. Analysis: Howard Bender

Update: Manager Don Mattingly said after Monday's game that left fielder Carl Crawford will be evaluated Tuesday.

As already mentioned, Crawford left in the third inning and Alex Guerrero/Scott Van Slyke are in line for added time with Yasiel Puig also injured. No word on the official timetable for Crawford's return. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Broncos have waived OLB Quanterus Smith.

Smith had only 11 tackles last year for the Broncos, in his only year in the NFL. He will need to find a new place to latch-on before camp starts in a couple of months. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Ryan Goins is expected to serve in a platoon at shortstop with INF Jonathan Diaz while SS Jose Reyes (rib) is on the 15-day disabled list.

Goins gets the bump in fantasy terms with Reyes' injury, but it doesn't mean he should be the automatic fill-in. Limited power, speed, and contact make him a tough-play unless you're in a hole. Look for something else on the waiver wire to suit your SS spot. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Brandon Phillips posted his first extra-base hit of the season Monday,

If you're still riding the Brandon Phillips train, it is time to abandon. DatBPDude just isn't the player he was in his 20's with four straight seasons of decline in OPS. He failed to reach 18 homers last season with only eight, and ended his eight year streak of double-digit home streak. It is time to say good-bye to Mr. Phillips is he is still on your roster and hope for better days. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Carl Crawford's injury might open the door for Alex Guerrero.

With Yasiel Puig and now Carl Crawford injured, Guerrero's bat should not be kept quiet any longer. His five homers in 22 AB is absurd to keep on the bench so if you can make a move for him, do it. Analysis: Rob Trayah

The Bengals are unlikely to resign Jermaine Gresham.

Gresham has spent all five years in Bengals' colors, but appears unlikely to return. He had 62 catches for 460 yards and five touchdowns in 2014 and might provide an added boost in fantasy if he goes to a team in need of a No. 1 TE. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Update: Rays manager Kevin Cash said he does not know when Xavier Cedeno will be added to the 25-man roster. Cedeno, 28, will have to take a physical and be examined by team doctors before he joins the bullpen.

Cedeno was acquired in a transaction to be a left-handed option out of the bullpen from the Dodgers. He is still going through the due process of being brought in by the Rays so for the time being, there is no situational lefty in Tampa's bullpen. Analysis: Rob Trayah

If there was a save situation, Brett Cecil would have been available Monday.

Miguel Castro came into the game in the ninth and promptly gave up three hits including Mookie Betts' game-winner. Cecil and Castro have alternated situations for saves, but it's a closer carousel in Toronto so don't put a lot of stock in either one. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Desmond Jennings was out of the lineup for a second straight day because of left knee soreness. He said this is not an injury that would require a stint on the disabled list.

Jennings has struggled early this season so some rest might do him some good. Brandon Guyer would see an increase in playing time, but that doesn't mean he is an insta-add. Stay away from the outfield in Tampa for the time being. Analysis: Rob Trayah

David Hernandez pitched in a game for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last year when he threw one inning in an extended spring game against the Brewers on Saturday.

Hernandez is still probably a fair bit out from returning to the Diamondbacks bullpen, so temper your expectations until he can prove he is healthy in minor league rehab. Addison Reed will continue to man the ninth-inning, even when Hernandez is back. Analysis: Rob Trayah

Slow starts are nothing new for Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed, though he certainly wishes he weren't so familiar with them. Obviously nobody wants to start slow, said Ahmed, who entered play Monday hitting .125 in 48 at-bats this season.

Ahmed has had to take a back seat to Chris Owings, who has started to swing the bat well. The rest of the infield outside of Paul Goldschmidt has struggled as well so as long as he can provide defense, he's going to stick around. Analysis: Rob Trayah
